“The US Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of seventeen newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today,” Jack Purcher reports for Patently Apple.
“Noteworthy are two patents relating to iOS cameras and one for wireless synchronization,” Purcher reports. “It’s unknown at this time if Apple’s wireless synchronization patent will be retained for purely defensive purposes or used offensively to challenge competing products.”
Purcher reports, “While synching has existed for some time, it’s the manner in which Apple’s media manager organizes content during the synchronization process so as to automatically synchronize media content stored on the media player with media content stored on the host device that’s key here. This granted patent could also support any future iCloud related patent.”
All of the info and many of Apple’s patent applications illustrations are in the full article here.

They’ll lose patent suits to Microsoft seeing as Windows Phone had wireless sync since it released.
wp7fan,
Yes and no. See its about how you sync not that you used the word sync. Cause people have been “in sync” for years so would that make Microsoft using prior art??? LOL
Then again lately judges have been playing “know it all’s” and declared patents void. Gee I thought that was the job of the patent office.
Here I thought Windows phone use was just a rounding error. Who knew they would sync?
The two syncing systems compared are different enough in technologies and functionality and user interface to happily coexist.
This is about wireless sync and how information is automatically synchronised between the two devices.
