Ashton Kutcher to play Steve Jobs in ‘Jobs’ biopic

“The King of Twitter is now the King of Apple, as ‘Two and a Half Men’ star Ashton Kutcher is attached to play Steve Jobs in the indie pic ‘Jobs,’ which Joshua Michael Stern (‘Swing Vote”‘ will direct from a script by Matt Whiteley,” Jeff Sneider reports for Variety.

“The film will chronicle Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time,” Sneider reports. “Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme is financing and will produce the pic, which is skedded to start production in May while Kutcher is on hiatus from his hit CBS series.”

Sneider reports, “Sony Pictures is currently developing its own Steve Jobs pic, based on the bestselling book by Walter Isaacson.”

  1. It’s a movie. Don’t watch it. Honestly, his life story is great as a biography or documentary but a feature movie? Naw, I don’t think so. Why? There are thousands of potential stories out there, fiction and non fiction, that are actually interesting as a movie plot. I read the biography. I don’t need a movie. Move on. There are more important things going on in the world.

  2. The movie should be a PIXAR movie with Jobs animated on Mac computers using the original voice of Jobs from past media recordings of Jobs. That way you can say that for a large part of the movie the part is played by Steve Jobs himself. His portrait should be as real to life-like as possible rather than a distant characture (sp?).

  3. I hate the guy, but believe he may be able to pull it off if the movie is done right. If the script and director suck, no actor will save it. However, if the actor displays zero charisma, fuhgeddaboutit…. I don’t know if Kucher can handle that, unless they get a director to make sure he drops acid throughout the making of the film.

  4. It’s an Aprils Fool joke. A good one…. But, a joke, none the less. I enjoyed it because it was a joke. If this were serious I,d, I’d, I’d….. Well, I don’t know what I would.

This had to be planted by an Apple short.

  5. Gotta be someone who has some Steveliness qualities or it’s not going to work. Noah did a good job of absorbing and radiating some Steveliness aura into his part.
