Analysts see Apple iPad (Early 2012) lapping the competition yet again

Wall Street analysts “seem to be even more impressed with the latest tablet than the tech press,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune.

• RBC Capital’s Mike Abramsky: We would argue it will maintain Apple’s Tablet dominance.

• Deutsche Bank’s Chris Whitmore: Lapping the competition again; iPad positioned to dominate the category.

• Sterne Agee’s Shaw Wu: Unlike competitors, AAPL is delivering strong battery life (9 hours using 4G LTE and 10 hours on 3G). We do not believe this can be easily replicated.

• Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster: New iPad impressive, [Long term] tablet thesis suggests iPad numbers too low.

    1. Yep, me, too. Went for the whole enchilada just like you. Can’t wait to get it.

In the past, I’ve made the trek to the nearest Apple Store (about 60 miles from where I live) to be a part of the enthusiastic crowd waiting to buy their latest Apple mobile device, but I decided I’d save the time and gas and let UPS do the work.

If you haven’t watched yesterday’s keynote, do – especially the iPhoto demo by Randy Ubillos.

      1. I think you’ve stumbled upon what should have been the iPad’s new nomenclature: ‘iPad: The Enchilada!’ Take *THAT* ice cream sandwich…

You’re spot on about the iPhoto demo too; downloaded it when it became available and it’s just packed with great features that the help bubbles only go so far to explaining. His demo was fantastic, and also serves as an instruction manual for everyone who’s just downloaded it.

        1. I totally missed my brainstorm, so thanks for pointing it out.

Perhaps we ought to send an email to Tim informing him of our idea.

Totally agree that Apple’s demos serve as instruction manuals for its products. I watched the original iPhone keynote numerous times, so when I got my iPhone 2G, I already knew how to use it.

    2. Yea.. Took about 2 hours for the store to even come up. Then about 15 minutes of “looping” through to get it… Was fun!!!!! ^_^

Saw no in store pickup. Guess like Black Friday last year. No standing in lines but just clicking…. ^_^

  1. It’s not really a shock when you’re ‘lapping’ road kill. “Wait wasn’t that skunk there the last time we turned this corner?” “Yeah, he was like a deer in the headlights and you plowed over him with the first iPad. Fortunately, he didn’t make it.”

    1. If you say it enough times will that make it happen? There is no 7.8″ iPad.

      1. BLN, aka ‘Stockboy’, plays the game that no matter what Apple achieves, there’s always something else they really need to be making.

Like the kid who brings home a ‘C’ on his report card and dad says “I know if you were to try, you could make a ‘B’.”

So, kid really buckles down, stops wasting time watching TV and such, and makes a ‘B’. Dad then says, “I know if you REALLY tried, you could make an ‘A’.”

Charlie cuts out all goofing off that goes along with being a kid, and manages to make an ‘A’, to which dad says, “Oh, I know those teachers of yours – they’ll give an ‘A’ to just about anyone.” That’s BLN’s modus operandi.

  2. Today I would purchase a two year old iPad before I would spring for any of the other stuff out there. Competitors can pile on the specs… but without the Apple ecosystem they are toast… unless they can cut their prices in HALF… and they cannot.

    Anxiously awaiting my “New iPad”!

  3. Looks like there will be no more big selloffs of the stock for a while. They tried but it wouldn’t take. All the big institutions who sold in the 540’s are coming back in already. This stock is headed strait for $650.
