Apple releases EFI Firmware Updates for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini

Apple has released the EFI Firmware Updates listed below, all of which improve the reliability of booting from the network, addresses an issue that can prevent HDCP authentication after a reboot, and resolves an issue with boot device selection when a USB storage device is hot-plugged.

The updates are available via Software Update and also as standalone installers.

      1. After a couple of days on the phone to Apple, they said this was an ongoing problem with many users and they were working on it. So you should keep your hands off your pee-pee for a day or two – give it a rest BLN.

        Plus that firmware update failed to fix the problem.

        Now I suggested you leave that thing alone, and you’re at it again.

  1. I just installed this update along with a WiFi update – my Mac now only boots into the recovery console.

    I did not power cycle the machine (or do anything else, no power outages etc) whilst this update ran.

    I did notice an initial long beep when first starting up doing the EFI update which I thought odd at the time, I’m now resinstalling Lion from the recovery console.

  2. The Option key seems to have been stuck after the update! Never had such a problem before (Macbook air, latest OSX). Now I can get the Option key unstuck! Anybody else with the same problem?
