“Evidently the holidays didn’t bring much joy to Research in Motion and its struggling PlayBook tablet,” John Paczkowski reports for AllThingsD.
“Despite steep holiday discounts, the company continues to grapple with its unsold PlayBook inventory,” Paczkowski reports. “RIM’s latest PlayBook sale. From now until February 4th, or whenever inventory runs out, RIM is selling all of its PlayBooks for just $299.”
Paczkowski reports. “That’s a lousy deal for the 16 GB model, whose price has dropped as low as $199 at some outlets. But for the 64 GB model, which debuted at $699.99 and is currently selling on Amazon for around $370, it’s not too bad.”

We’ve tried to use a BlackBerry PlayBook. It was a dismal experience. It’s a total POS. At $299, it’s still $299 too high.

Absolutely right about the ‘not so’ Playbook. I tried one out when they first launched. Nothing made sense. After the iPad experience, it was hopelessly counter-intuitive. Blackberry used to be a great business-oriented company. Now they’re a sad joke.

2012 is the year RIMM finally hits the ash heap!
With a vastly improved ipad 3 due with months, it’s still a terrible deal for old hardware with no software.
Jeez, it’s only £169.99 in the UK!

RIM should refund the money back to those who bought their playbook at the original price tag. Or give them a free playbook instead. That will help to clear the stock.
