Microsoft copies Apple yet again: Pulls out of CES in favor of its own events

“Microsoft Corp. is pulling out of the International Consumer Electronics Show, the largest trade show in the Americas,” Peter Svensson reports for The Associated Press.

“It’s joining Apple in saying that it prefers to put on its own events when the time is right to show off its products,” Svensson reports. “Microsoft said the next show, to be held Jan. 9-12 in Las Vegas, will be the last show at which it has a booth or the CEO delivers the customary kick-off speech.”

Svensson reports, “Apple doesn’t participate in trade shows at all after pulling out of the Macworld Conference & Expo after 2009.”

  1. Again, Steve Ballmer does not get it. Yes, there are millions of people that watched and keep watching his speeches. But, that isn’t helping Microsoft out. We just can’t get enough good laughs anytime we see a link to the “Dancing Monkey” videos.

I hope that Steve Ballmer can keep his job for as long as it takes.

  2. What did you expect him to announce? Microsoft’s consumer facing product lineup’s cupboard is bare. Windows 8 is at least a year away from commercial launch. MS is an also ran in the mobile space with less than 2% share for WP7. Kinect is last year’s news. There’s nothing new in XBox. There’s nothing for Ballmer to talk about.

  3. I bet there are millions of people who believe that is an original microsoft idea… those miillions are the microsoft market, the market of those who doesn’t know the world out side their WW2 bunker.
