Apple pulls ‘ex-gay’ app from iTunes App Store

Apple has pulled the Exodus International app from their iTunes App Store.

Recently, Jeff Buchanan, Exodus International’s Senior Director of Church Equipping & Student Ministries, told The Christian Post, “In no way shape or form is our message about trying to cure or do we try to promote that type of methodology or message… This is a label (gay cure app) that has been put forth by opponents to the application to serve as propaganda in order to stigmatize and really label the application in a false way and provoking a response such as you are seeing with the application.”

Katherine T. Phan reports for The Christian Post, “Over 107,477 people have petitioned Apple to remove the Exodus app from the iTunes store. The petition, launched by Truth Wins Out, a LGBT rights group, calls Exodus’ message ‘hateful’ and ‘bigoted.’ On Monday, Truth Wins Out, whose name is a play on words of Exodus’ Love Won Out conferences, urged more people to sign its petition.”

In addition to releasing a video on why Apple should remove the app, the LGBT rights group also pledged to continue pressuring Apple until the app is removed, even promising to hold a press conference featuring victims of ‘ex-gay’ programs in front of the company’s offices if their demands are not met,” Phan reports. “We are disheartened at the fact that there are activists who are rising up to silence our voice on the Exodus iTunes platform,” said Buchanan. “We want to ask that there would be fair and equal representation of religious belief on this platform as is already existing. We would like the spirit of diversity and tolerance that is so valued within the LGBT community.”

  1. The intolerant militant homosexual movement “wins” another one of their “wars.” One question:

If homosexuals “didn’t choose” to be that way, what about pedophiles, zoophiles, necrophiles, and coprophiles?

      1. Wait, are you trying to say that pedophiles “choose” to be sexually attracted to children and therefore consign themselves to either a sexless life or, if they act, a depraved (and hopefully incarcerated) life?

The same for those sexually attracted to corpses, animals, and feces?

        1. Are you trying to say that having sex with a child, an animal, a corpse, or a pile of shit, is even remotely related to two same-sex ADULTS CONSENTING to have intercourse?

        2. Oh, so neither the homosexual, the pedophile, the necrophiliac, or the coprophiliac chose to be that way, but because the homosexuals can find another to consent to the sexual aberration, it’s fine and, quite certainly, very dandy. I get it now.

        3. you are being to logical for the “gay” people. For some reason they believe their cause is a “civil” cause and the difference between pedo’s and what they do is a simple ” I do accept” …

          amazing isn’t it ?

        4. I think God will be clearing up the human confusion and insistence on doing His job very soon. PLease hurry God. Save your children from damnation. We are sinners.

        5. Try looking at it from a somewhat more practical angle: As long as consenting adults are involved, other people’s sex lives are none of your damned business.

        6. THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS…Apple caving into the fascism of the so called, “gay” militants and removing the “Exodus App” is no more and no less than a high-tech book burning and no less odious than the Nazis burning books. (No coincidence that the same Brown Shirts elite “gays” that were behind the Nazi book burnings are behind this new-age book burning Exodus and other groups like “Jonah” offer a way of freedom and redemption from the bondage of homosexual addiction to the “homosexual” and as such by the very act of offering hope it presents an existential threat to the preferred lie and crutch of the addicted “homosexual” that they have no control and no choice over their condition. This issue has backfired on the censors in the “lavender mafia” and brought global attention to the existence of Exodus International and will inform multitudes of our brothers and sisters who suffer the slavery of homosexuality. THANK GOD FOR THE GAY MOB! A great moment in the ministry to homosexuals!

        7. Yeah you really can’t separate them, if you’re going to say sexual orientation is an inborn thing. It’s pretty ridiculous to say that it is of course, we DO choose either way inasmuch as a human being can choose. And if there is no such thing as free will as science would seem to suggest then they’re absolutely the same, systems reacting to their inputs and nothing more.

Oh and plenty of people classified as pedophiles have consenting partners. There are kids going to jail in the US because they turned eighteen before their girlfriends. If anything someone screwing any member of the opposite sex who is past puberty (nature’s age of consent, and the guide for the age of consent in most less religiously backwards places) is infinitely more natural and ‘better’ than homosexuality. That’s one hundred percent a morality tie up, the same as all the silly little abstinence programs. Because of our stupid mores we want our kids to keep being dumb innocent children until they’re twenty-one when in reality we’re ready to get out in the world and run down antelope and stick spears in rival tribesmen and have kids once we past puberty.

So yeah, for that one at least homosexuality is definitely more abberrant, I think everyone realizes that the 18yo age of consent is a joke and that every man in the US wants to bang sixteen year olds no matter how ‘perverted’ it supposedly is. For that matter apparently a lot of women do too 😀 That’s our prime, when nature’s making us our most attractive so we can quickly attract a mate before we die of natural causes at twenty five or so.

That being said I don’t really have any problem with gay people. Sex is for fun, procreation is for procreation, they’re not the same thing. Now, a guy walking around in a skirt with his balls hanging out the bottom is a completely different thing, I TOTALLY have a problem with attention whores of every sort and wish they would all contract horrible slowly fatal diseases. As long as they’re useful respectful members of society though, what hole people want to stick what into is their own business.

        8. Georgia Bill – it is a conditioned sexual perversion. Hypocrisy Alert’s point & parallel are robust. You are confused b/c you miss the binary aspect of this reality. No matter how you twist the your argument – you cannot change this fact.

        9. Eloquent speech without logic or proof is still b.s. to me. You say it’s a “conditioned sexual perversion” and that H.A.’s “point and parallel are robust”, yet give no reasoning as to why, except to say it is. Don’t worry about me “twist”ing my argument. It has, and will, remain the same: Consenting adults engaging in intercourse is far removed from the other acts, all of which amount to some form of rape. If you, or anyone else, can come up with a thoughtful, logical, fact-based argument that supports H.A.s point, I’m happy to read it. I’m an open-minded guy, but you’ll have to do much better than “He is right, you are confused.”

        10. “conditioned sexual perversion”? If so, presumably no human or animal would engage in homosexual behavior without being conditioned, which is contradicted by every observation, test or study, particularly in the case of animals. By whom and how, for example, are animals conditioned to engage in the homosexual behavior which has been observed in a number of species?

“robust”. Absurd. Hypocrisy Advocate repeatedly ignores any points not in support of his unsubstantiated comparisons.

“confused b/c you miss the binary aspect of this reality”? I am confused by what notion of reality you live in, as your statement is ridiculous, irrelevant to any rational discussion and utterly illogical.

        11. I guess they found the “GAY Gene”. Apparently being gay isn’t a choice or perversion, but rather a genetic make up. homosexuals are perverted human beings, and pedophiles are just MORE perverted. Just continue your pursuit of sexual deviation and you will find yourself attracted to a piece of sh1t next. I mean your already sniffing around the orifice where it comes out…doesn’t seem like a big leap to me. Golden showers anyone? perverts.

        12. @sickout you do realize that over 95% of pedophiles are male heterosexual middle-class businessmen, don’t you? So, if you fall into that category then chances are many of your colleagues are pedophiles. Pedophilia has very little to do with sex and is more about power and control, which is why they pick on defenseless children. Remember pedophile priests were males (almost all heterosexual) using their power against young boys (and in only rare cases young girls). So based on what you said pedophiles are just MORE perverted heterosexual males middle-class businessmen. And your apparent knowledge of homosexual activity leads one to believe you’ve probably engaged in it more than once. Particularly your knowledge of golden showers (which had to look up to find out what they were). I think you doth protest to much and engage in that which you rail against. Nothing worse than a self-loathing homosexual like you. Even your screen name bespeaks your self-loathing.

        13. I believe that there are people born out there who as they mature learn from their emotions etc that they are attracted to people of the same sex. (They’re born that way). I also believe that some people similarly learn that they are attracted to children.. And I believe that some people develop and learn that they need to be with multiple partners – polygamy. I believe that many in each of these groups were “born that way”.

The pedophile can’t act on his natural urges without running afoul of child molestation statutes and finding him/herself imprisoned – while the ages of legal consent may be somewhat arbitrary, overall it serves to protect many who cant help themselves. You should feel sorry for the self-constrained pedophile – he was born to grow, mature and yet still remain attracted to children. If must be very difficult for him to live surrounded by what his body and mind says should be his – yet he can never touch that forbidden fruit bc if he does he forfeits his freedom. That is a sad existence and one that I pity. Perhaps one day psychology will develop procedures to re-write his attraction programing – until then, he has to walk thru this life alone and empty.

In reality, the homosexual group has nearly attained parity with straights. In some ways they have more rights in that they are essentially a protected class. And more importantly, the consent issue faced by the pedophile is absent with the homosexual.

The polygamist also have no consent issue. It seems to me that these two groups are most closely analogous. And it also seems to me that these groups should align themselves to increase their numbers and political power.

I would suggest that both the polygamists and homosexual groups unite and advocate for a right to marry whomever you want (regardless of number) so long as the putative spouse(s) are consenting adults.

And until we can cure the poor pedophile, we should give him our support and empathy.

        14. ” 2 consenting adults the rest are not, big difference.”

How do you get consent from a pile of shit?

A corpse… some would say that saying nothing to a request is a tacit agreement.

Animals… Are you Dr. Doolittle, if not, then how do you know they didn’t consent? Does a horse consent to being ridden or pulling a coach?

a child… apparently there are adult children who can give their consent. What? Haven’t heard of adult children… Yeah, sounds like an oxymoron, but our current elected bozos seem to think that it is a perfect term to use for this part in the new health care law recently passed.

“Health-care overhaul legislation, signed into law by President Obama earlier this year, allows adult children to remain on their parents’ health plan until age 26.”

Oxymoron, I see where the moron part comes in.

          http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/insurance/employers-reluctant-to-add-older-dependents-sooner-rather-than-l/19502338/

        15. A child is a human offspring, no matter what age, so yes, there ARE adult children. When talking about about pedo’s, one talks about children below a certain age of consent.

        16. Right. My point exactly. Shit, children of an illegal age, animals and the dead cannot consent (legally.)

          So, I reiterate:

          Homosexuality = 2 consenting adults

The rest are not. Big difference.

There is no hidden meaning.. Figure it out.

        17. So, sex between consenting adults? How about sexual attraction between brother and brother? Brother and sister? Sister and sister? Adult child and parent? and so on.

        18. Well that would be incest. Personally, it ain’t right in my book, but it is legal in some parts of the world.

And if you are Christian and you believe in the same bible that condemns homosexuality. Well, that same bible tells another story about Adam and Eve who had two sons. That means mom was the only other woman around.

          Just sayin.

        19. Excellent thought StanW. Additionally, why limit it to just two? How large groups of consenting adults? Sheesh a line must be drawn somewhere. And the bible does that already…sex is a gift from God between 1 man and 1 woman within a marraige. Extending the line beyond that is done just to fulfill your selfish desires? What is flawed here is the lack of faith, arrogance, and ignorance of the LBGT community.

        20. InChrist,

You are free to believe what you wish..

I just can’t put any faith or relevance into a book that preaches that homosexual sex is an abomination on par with shaving your beard, or eating shrimp.

          Read your Leviticus..

The Bible is as flawed as the men who wrote and interpreted it.

        21. I have to note that marriage was not invented by Christians. It was around along before the Christian god was even thought up. The argument “because religion says so” also goes against Separation of Church and State. “Because the Bible and God says so” is an invalid argument.

        22. Not true. The vast majority of pedophile encounters are consenting. The extremely rare cases of child molesters (i.e. not pedophiles) are the ones who make the news and skew the reaction of people who refuse to analyze the subject dispassionately and logically.

Coprophilia does not necessarily involve any partner so consent is not a factor. Or, if a partner is involved, surely this amounts to consent.

          Necrophilia does not require consent.

This is not really the right forum for such distasteful, off-topic subjects and I understand not everyone will agree with me. But, controversial, distasteful and so on, what I say is true, nevertheless.

        23. “The vast majority of pedophile encounters are consenting.”

Under the law, a child cannot legally consent to sex. Even if they say “yes”, that means nothing in the eyes of the law. Children are not intelligent enough to understand the meaning, ramifications, and potential consequences of sexual activity.

Your attempt to justify pedophilia/hebephilia/non-legal ephebophilia is disgusting, and you have my pity.

        24. Ok the real perverts are the ones obsessed with what everyone else is doing in their bedrooms number one number two they are the ones who have no problem watching a person’s head being blown off, in fact they call it entertainment. I wonder what Christ would think about that double standard. You all seem very willing to cast the first stone but according the the sources you love to cite, being drunk is a perversion, being obese is a perversion, having an affair is a perversion, oral sex a perversion, sex during menstruation a perversion, sex for pleasure a perversion, masturbation a perversion. I guess the only legal grounds for divorce
should become adultery because that’s in the Bible as well.
Oh yeah greed is a perversion, as is lying and not paying taxes. “Cesar’s things to Cesar” Jesus said. Not helping the poor is a perversion and finally, according to Jesus Christ himself, judgement itself is a perversion. You all really need to figure out what is really wrong with this world because you are really the ones making the mockery of what’s truly important. I would love to be able to shine a spotlight into all of your bedrooms.

        25. Homosexuality = multiple consenting “adults” (are you taking in the truck stop, public bathroom massage parlor factor?)
Nevermind the spread of diseases because now, adults 1 through 654 don’t have to worry about impregnating the other adults because it’s just mutual masturbation with a gritty butthole or disease ridden fish.

          There, fixed it for you.

        26. @h2a: In point of fact, homosexuals are far more promiscuous than hetereosexuals. Study after study throughout the years prove this, and the only arguments against said studies revolve around rhetoric, not statistics.

        27. it also equals them shoving it down everyones throat and flaunting it in all our institutions including the military. They dont want anyone to disagree with them. It used to be about just wanting people to leave you alone but thats not good enough.

        28. If want to be technical, you have to draw the distinction between pedophiles and child molesters. A pedophile probably can’t help what he or she is attracted to. But molesting children is a detestable crime, not at all comparable to consensual homosexual relationships.

        29. Draw a distinction between pedophiles and child molesters!? What the heck are you talking about??? They’re all freaks one in the same!

As far as homosexuality being comparable to pedophilia, necrophilia, -ilia, that’s all a matter of opinion. Just because Hollywood has decided that homosexuality is ‘normal’ now and that the rest of us must accept it or we are “bigots”, does not make homosexuality moral and ethical.

Homosexuality is not a naturally accepted phenomenon, or else homosexuals would be able to reproduce, but that’s kind of hard, isn’t it??

You liberal nutjobs make me laugh.

        30. i would argue that it is equally immoral for those who are infertile to have sex. it’s not a naturally accepted phenomenon, or else they could reproduce, but that’s kind of hard, isn’t it??

        31. You are not just an irrational bore and bigot, you give yourself away: You are plainly a mean-spirited, narrow-minded, self important prig. You have a black heart the size of a rice grain. You deny other people the right to a good life, whilst enjoying your own freedom to do what you like and enjoy. Mudding the water by comparing gay people with sex monsters, and bizarre fetishists is laughable. Breeding isn’t part of everyone’s destiny. Ask the ants and bees. Yet non-breeding individuals contribute massively to the general good.

        32. So why stop at homosexuality, why not allow polygamy? Why can’t they have what they want? What makes two people with the same sex normal and not one man with 10 wives? Why are they looked down at?

        33. @MoronAgainstHomos

You ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed, are you, boy?

A pedophile is only attracted to children, but a child molester actually does something about it. That’s a pretty huge distiction right there.

Also, as far as being black goes, just because Hollywood has decided that negroes are ‘normal’ now and the rest of us must accept it or we are “bigots” does not make negroes moral and ethical. Look at their supposed “culture”, for Christ’s sake! It’s all about gangs, guns, booze, bitches, fried chicken, these cacophonous jungle beats somehow passing for music… And don’t even get me started on the way they talk. Ever had one of them “ax” you a question? Damn, sometimes I’m not even sure they’re speaking English. Seriously, can you honestly look me straight in the eye and tell me they’re 100% human? No way. They gotta be at least half chimp.

And don’t call me a racist, brother, ’cause I’m not. I’m just telling it like it is.

          P.S.,

If homosexuality is wrong because they can’t reproduce, then it’s wrong for infertile people to get married. Or have sex. Or kiss. At all. With anybody. Because even if they’re heterosexual there’s no possibility of them reproducing. So I guess they should be considered deviants or at the very least second-class citizens. And who’s to say they didn’t CHOOSE to be biologically infertile, huh? Those sick perverts.

They’re almost as bad as liberals.

        34. Homosexuals are perverse deviants. You can ALWAYS count on the gays to sue you too. Even animals know same-sex relations are unnatural – gay men/women do not. No matter how much the gays cry and whine – they are a minute, insignificant, dead end part of the species who contribute little because they are too busy suing us in court.

        35. @NeversawAGaysonlyDrinkingFountain There are lots of animals that are homosexual. If you’ve ever owned guinea pigs you’ll soon realize they’re mostly gay. Giraffes, gay. Penquins, ducks = gay. Oh, and what about seahorses? Not only do they engage in homosexual activity they actually occasionally change their gender physically. Some years they’re female, other years they’re male.

Mentioning the animal kingdom to bolster your argument just shows you how absolutely stupid (or ignorant) you are.

BTW new stem cell engineering allows a skin cell to fertilize an egg. So, at least homosexual women, will actually be able to fertilize their partner’s eggs and the child will be genetically linked to both female parents. And all their children will be female. Men watch out. The majority of the earth’s population has needed you around for sperm. If that’s not necessary, then you (and the violence men bring to situations) won’t be needed. So, your argument that homosexuals can’t reproduce is moot, well at least for homosexual women. Right now the cost is prohibitive for most couples. But, it will certainly become less expensive the more prevalent it becomes.

      2. Hypocrisy Alert’s logic is dead on, Georgis Bill, and here’s why…
He’s NOT claiming those other *philes* are the same as consenting adults, but they ARE the same as far as sexual deviency goes in that those people are wired that way, just as homosexuals are. The homosexual movement is about the most intolerant gang out there and yet tolerence is what they claim to be asking for…..

        1. Wrong. “Sexual deviency” is a matter of perception with regard to homosexuality. The Moral Right will say it’s condemned in the Bible, and yet they choose to ignore all other archaic restrictions on what you can and should do. The more free-thinking populous couldn’t care less what they do, as long as it doesn’t adversely affect anyone else. That’s how freedom should work in this country: Do whatever you want as long as you don’t hurt another’s person or property. As far as all the other “philes” are concerned, they are tantamount to rape, and common sense should tell you not to even go there. And lastly, when there are two opposing viewpoints, both sides would be considered “intolerant” of each other. But all LGBTs want is to be treated the same as any god-fearing Christian would be. I’m siding with the LGBTs on this one because I haven’t heard one good reason not to. Hell, it doesn’t affect me. Live and let live, I say.

        2. @ Georgia Bill

The whole arguments about the Bible being a contradictory book because it talks about specific commands to the Jewish community in Leviticus is like saying homosexuals are bad because they are homosexuals. Both arguments are ignorant at best. If you believe in the Bible, homosexuality is a sin. Trying to convice someone who is enamored of that lifestyle through logic is pure folly at best. One of the reasons the aforementioned Exodus Love Won Out series works is because it shows love and compassion through Biblical perspective, which is something that the church and many Christians have failed miserably at.

As for the whole Leviticus argument thing, I would simply compare it to studying a book like the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich without any cultural or historical context. Don’t believe if you don’t want to. However, if you are going to delve into exegesis, please read up a bit.

I would also like people to post a link to information where there is verified scientific evidence of a “gay gene” as opposed to a predispositioned (mental) attraction to the opposite sex.

      3. GA Bill: You have changed the subject and criticized Hypocrisy Alert’s (HA) logic as applied to your new subject—to which the argument was not directed. HA’s point is that pedophiles, et al., also did not choose to be that way and society not only tolerates efforts for those people to reign in their sexual inclinations: society demands that they do.
Yet here, there is no such demand involved. The now censored application was simply made available to those people who choose to reign in their sexual inclinations so that they may live in conformity with their religious beliefs.
The homosexual activists have “won” by depriving other free and consenting adults of access to something they wanted. The reason they did so is because they are interested in forcing other people to accept, rather than tolerate their agenda.

        1. You are obviously a total Git, and not worthy of anyone’s time. A smug, opinionated, self-satisfied bore, who enjoys his own freedom to have a life, without granting that right to other people. Bringing up various fetishes and sex crimes, and trying to label gay people as the same category, is irrational, but more obviously indicative of your mean spirit, evil heart and narrow mind.

    1. Interesting point. I’d go further into the depths of devil’s advocacy to say, what if you’re born to love older men/women and you come across someone that’s born to love much younger boys/girls. Shouldn’t they also have rights to love who they choose?

        1. Please people, stop assuming that the USA is the whole world. Many countries have ages of consent lower than the ridiculously-high 18. Some are as low as 12. Many are tolerant of things that the US finds “perverted”. Many find America’s rabid christianity and right-wing crusading disturbing. Many find Amerca’s cultural terrorism damned annoying. Many wish you’d just shut up for a while and stop trying to tell everyone else that they should be, think and behave exactly as you do.

    2. The lack of any sense in your post is breathtaking.

Group X should not be able promote respect for their differences and freedom to live peacefully as they like because Groups Y and Z commit crimes?

Freedom of speech means people can criticize whoever they want (outside of slander). But it also means people can fight to be respected. If you can’t cheer on a peaceful (hardly militant) movement like that, or recognize the difference between freedom of expression vs. freedom to commit crimes, something is not right with your moral compass.

        1. @kmichaels: It’s a well-established fact that society has known (not just theorized, but proven through study) about for decades. If you weren’t so enthralled by the agenda, maybe you would have joined the rest of us, including some on the Left, .

          But if you insist: http://factsaboutyouth.com/posts/promiscuity/

Now you’ll ignore me and/or you or another will come back with some combination of the following: hand-waving or some logical fallacy (ad hominem is the most popular choice but circular arguments and repeating what’s already been addressed adequately are also likely candidates).

        2. 1) No such thing.

          2) Who cares who you say you know? There’s no reason to trust you, nor would who you know be relevant either way. Studies have ALWAYS shown homosexuals are as a whole far more promiscuous than heterosexuals.

        3. To refute your point #1, I present an excerpt from Exodus:
“Also, we do not label ourselves “ex-gay” but identify as Christians who have had or have same sex attractions.”
See that last part? “Have”, as in “present tense”. Sounds like some gay Christians to me…

    3. Consenting adults: pedophiles, zoophiles, necrophiles, and coprophile do not involve consenting partners. That is rape, just as heterosexuals and homosexuals who force others to have unwanted sex.

A quick check on on the App Store:

      Christian = 488 apps

      Muslim = 235 apps

      Jewish = 120 apps

      Gay = 105 apps

Apple is very fair to religion. Right wing christians are far from being oppressed.

      1. I don’t own ANYTHING made by apple. How you folks guy pay top dollar for a product that censors it’s information is way beyond me. I think ALL of you are idiots.

The way it should be: Any and all apps, period. No “Overlord of Apps” allowed… da$mn you people are stupid.

      2. Nice try. You must be a “size queen”. Size does not matter in this issue. Apple has executed pure VIEWPOINT DISCRIMINATION in this case and should reverse there ill advised caving to intimidation from a fascistic militant minority.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

        — The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

        1. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
          — The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

So Apple is Congress now. What a dope. As a gay conservative, I feel that the mainstream media, Apple, you liberals, you unforgiving Christians, and you gay baters are all moronic, unsophisticated idealist with no common understanding of history, true freedom, choice. love, passion, and hope. You are all idiots. Almost every single comment on this site must have been written by fools. Has everyone in the U.S, my home country, gone completely insane. We still are the greatest country in the world–don’t get me wrong. But the world does not count much these days. Everyone is so stuck up their own @66 that they cannot stop eatting the cavier for 10 seconds to think critically on this subject.

NO one does not have a right to do whatever he or she wants to do.

Yes, homosexuality is not a sin.

Yes, homosexual acts do de-limit one’s freedom.

Yes, people are born into an evironment in which there genes might condition them to be homosexual. Meaning that biological and sociological connections are both obivious and common sense. Do not TRY to disagree. Resistance to these truths is futile.

    4. You’re an idiot. Who would choose to have such a sexual orientation? The point is that gay adults consent to be with each other and therefore, it’s not a problem. How pedophiles or zoophiles end up dealing with their predicament is a totally different issue. D’uh.

    5. I don’t know why you religious/conservative people even try to debate, your arguments never hold water and they just come across as a crazy conspiracists rant or an angry misanthrope. Normal, intelligent people generally use calm logic and reason to make their points, something that a religious, conservative person could never hope to win against (I mean, after all, you do believe in an invisible man, living in the sky granting wishes to those who pray to him. It doesn’t get any more illogical or crazier than that! amiright?).

If you really want to win an argument, just tell the truth – that you “feel” the way you do. Just say, “Look, I don’t like fags, immigrants, or abortion, and I hate and fear things that I’m told threaten me or that I don’t understand. I’m full of anger, fear, and hate, and that’s the reason I’m against these things… because I ‘feel’ that way.” A logical person will have no debate against that and will only be able to say, “Wow, can’t argue with that. you win your argument! Jesus must be proud.”

      Anyway, hope this helps.

      1. because we are right every time… hence; right- conservative…
but i am offended by communist apps, will apple take those off…. gay community- grow some balls….hahahahah

      2. Wait, you’re accusing conservatives of doing EXACTLY what gay people do all along. You say they simply have ‘feelings’ against homosexuality. The proof gay people always give for justification of their behavior is that they ‘feel’ that way and therefore, it’s ‘natural’. Now, it may very well be natural, and I’m not one to either confirm that or deny that. But, neither are gay people. To simply assert that ‘I feel that way’ is no more proof of homosexuality being natural than a Christian saying ‘I feel that way’ is proof that there is a God. Doesn’t mean either is or isn’t true. It just means feelings don’t justify fact on either side.

Scientific proof on the matter is mixed at best, especially since current thought is that people’s orientation is usually set by the time they reach elementary school, long before awareness of it, making psychological tests almost impossible. But whether or not it is natural also holds no bearing on whether it is moral. People may have a natural tendency to violent anger or a natural sexual addiction; the ‘naturalness’ of either does not justify it morally. Good tendencies are the same way. The ‘natural’ desire of someone to help someone in trouble doesn’t make it morally good. I don’t know what the moral standard is, but it definitely isn’t a feeling’s/action’s ‘naturalness’.

    6. Sexual Orientation = heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality

Behavior = pedophilia, zoophilia, bestiality, incest, etc.

“Intolerant militant homosexual” catch phrase = made by religious douche bags that don’t want to acknowledge that they’re a homophobic bigot, so they paint all gay people with the same broad brush stroke.

      1. Since a behavior is something you do, sex is a behavior. Since sex is a behavior, then homosexuality, hetero, bi, pedo, zoo, beastiality are all sexual behaviors.

Just different flavors of the behavior.

The question first posed has NEVER been answered.

Since all are behaviors and even going on the premise that homosexuality is gene related, why aren’t the rest gene related?

Same as murderer’s, etc… it’s all behavior that you can’t stop because you’re “BORN that way” right?

        1. The first question has been answered many, many times. Too bad you dismiss all logical explanations and gravitate towards the ones that bolster your already preconceived notions. Your ignorance clearly shows.

      2. They are militant. They dont want anyone to disagree with them. It used to be about just wanting people to leave you alone but thats not good enough. NO one has to like you and they can have a damn app if they want!

    7. Homo groups are the new Nazi’s. Apple and Steve Jobs should be ashamed to pander to a worthless group of nags like LGBT groups that represent the bottom of the barrel of American society.

      1. lol! you speak of ” bottom of the barrel American society” and name yourself UpTheAzz.. now who’s calling the kettle black?

Your tripe is racially motivated and therefore not worth text.

        1. You too! Gay is not a race! I can clearly see why you people like to play in human feces. You have no clear sence of intelligence or shame. But hey….that’s your choice…..keep that shit to yourself or your boyfriend. Leave the Church alone. If they are wrong….they will be ignored. If you are wrong….you will be ignored. It’s really simple. You are only solidifying the distain that others already have for you, and others like you, with your unrelenting assualt on common decency and militant tactics.

    8. Hypocrisy Alert— I found your message to be homophobic, pedophobic, zooliophobic, necrophobic, and corpophobic. Shame on you. Homosexuals, Pedophiles, etc, all have a right to co-exist, spread disease, rape children, etc.

    9. Well, if it’s a “choice” then you are admitting that you are bisexual? Meaning, you are attracted to both men and women, but “choose” to be with women. Congrats on coming out as bi-sexual, Hypocrisy Alert.

    10. Considering dropping IPhone, their website and all the apps. Beyond the moral debate is the free speech issue. Wheres the free speech? Its just like liberal college campuses shouting down opposition instead of welcoming debate. If Apple is really picking a side on this then I’m gone. Shame on you, you wimps.

    1. The gay agenda? You mean people who want to be treated equally and not be rated as second class humans, who are willing to stand up for themselves in a society full of bigots who want them to shut up?

Filth and nonsense? Can you just elaborate on that for me? Or did you just choose those words to make your comment seem like it served some kind of purpose.

      1. “You mean people who want to be treated equally and not be rated as second class humans, who are willing to stand up for themselves in a society full of bigots who want them to shut up?”

COULD THAT NOT BE SAID OF CHRISTIANS ALSO?

        1. Right… Christians have it so bad in this country. Are you kidding me? I live in the Bible Belt and, trust me, y’all are running this shit. Quit being a martyr.

        2. That’s because most people are educated (although you can’t tell from this board) and call out bullshit when they see it. I know I try to. If the Christians (and I hate to lump them all together, because there are many out there that are doing alot of good) want to stop being bashed then they need to stop spreading hate, lies, and bullshit. Simple, really.

        3. @cry me a river: Do you live under a rock? Unless you count some school kid saying “that’s gay” about something totally irrelevant as “gay bashing,” I’ve heard ZERO gay bashing in the popular culture while the Left takes great pleasure in bashing Christians in all sorts of “art” (movies, entertainment TV, pictures, etc.) and on their agenda-pushing television programs (news/politics commentary).

@rvanward: You help prove kmichaels’s point.

        4. @CanofSand
No gay bashing? Just a quick glimpse at this comment section refutes that claim. Or did you not read anything before you posted? I know you said “in pop culture”, but that’s a weak argument. It’s the stigma LGBTs have to deal with in real life that’s the issue here. And sorry, but rvanward’s comment was pretty spot on. Religion has been infiltrating politics for quite a long time. Stating a fact is far from the “bashing” you think it is, no matter how much you may dislike hearing it.

        5. “Left takes great pleasure in bashing Christians”

The only “Christian bashing” I’ve ever seen coming from the left is the bashing of false Christians who claim to be the real deal… But then go around doing the exact opposite of what Christ taught. Like hating people, persecuting them, treating them as inferiors, showing aggression, failing to exercise compassion and tolerance, never turning the other cheek, etc. etc.

Which, alarmingly and quite sadly, seems to be the case for most people in the USA calling themselves “Christians”.

      2. you are going to have to come to terms that gay people are less then 1%..and people like myself do not agree with it… but that does not mean we will treat you any different ( as long as you stop shoving your SEXUAL preferance down our throats) I dont go around making my sexual preferance a race…so you are not any better then me and you do not get extra rights… get over it and yourself..as for apple, I have spent probably over 10,000 on apple and this will be my last time …i Do not support a company who thinks they are god and can decide what is better for me…

        1. Dude. Seriously. He just decided to stop buying products from a company in which he has $10,000 invested because they removed an anti-gay app from their store. It’s hard not to read homophobia into that.

    2. They are not bullying anyone. Nobody is being beat up, ridiculed, or having their rights taken away or minimized. They are not even promoting laws to limit anti-gay expression, as the App Store is not a legal forum. This is as peaceful – and non-bullying – as cultural differences could possibly be expressed.

They pushed for the removal an app that is disrespectful to their moral right to live peacefully as they choose to be removed using a petition, which is well within normal civilized discourse, not to mention the constitutional value of life, liberty and the search for happiness.

There is not even a hint of bullying.

      1. It is bullying if Wayne Besen wants to set up press conferences in front of Apple headquarters every week and try to embarrass Apple. Exodus could also do the same thing and show how Exodus has helped so many people.

Here’s what I don’t understand: I would never download a gay app because I’m not interested in it. I find many of those gay apps disrespectful to my moral right to not have promescuity promoted. Why can’t people who don’t like the Exodus app do the same?

        1. You are confusing apps which are anti-something with apps that are pro-something. I doubt Apple would publish an app which promoted the idea that being straight, or not at least trying a gay experience, was an immoral choice. If you can find such an app I will stand corrected.

You are also confusing people who are often discriminated against legally and socially petitioning for respect, with people who are not often (certainly no where near as much, i.e. Christians) discriminated against, loudly promoting discrimination (as apposed to promoting their religion) while interfering with other people’s peace.

Finally, you are confusing what is legal, which apparently both cases are, with what Apple should do, which it is well within its rights to decide.

        2. It’s quite evident that you have never downloaded the app. It’s also quite evident you didn’t understand anything about my comment.

Just like I’m not into gay apps, and therefore I won’t download it, if you’re not into exploring the possibility of changing your orientation, DON’T DOWNLOAD IT. How hard is this to understand?

        3. You are correct, “don’t download what you don’t want to see” is a sensible and productive philosophy. If Apple had decided to keep the app up, I would say the same thing to anyone spoiling their own happiness by worrying about it.

But there is also nothing wrong with Apple canceling their active support for marketing and distribution an app that purports to help solve someone’s “problem” of homosexuality, or an app that “helps” black people overcome their “bad” genes, or “assists” indians in not being “backward natives”, etc. These are not just offensive, they are overtly discriminatory and scientifically untenable views even if they are sincerely held by some ignorant people, even on occasion people who are the targets.

If this were the government enforcing a standard of speech it would be a different matter, although discrimination often crosses the line from free speech to a violation of people’s right to equality, but we are talking about what Apple choses to promote with their resources or not. Not lending their resources to this kind of nonsense makes sense and the world a better place. Let people believe nonsense on their own dime, or promote it with their own websites or other distribution, not Apple’s.

        4. “I doubt Apple would publish an app which promoted the idea that being straight, or not at least trying a gay experience, was an immoral choice. If you can find such an app I will stand corrected.”

There is a Bible app. You have been corrected.

        5. The bible also tells stories of incest.. Adam and eve had two sons, how did procreation continue.. Mom was the only woman around.

Leviticus says Homosexual sex is an abomination. Levitcus also says eating shrimp, crab and lobster is an abomination.

Shaving is an abomination, having sex with a woman on a period is an abomination..

The bible is as flawed as the men who wrote and interpreted it. Whether you choose to follow the bible or not is up to you. But it’s not a reliable or relevant source for this topic.

      1. Woody… average life span for a homosexual is 50 years. Good luck with that. You guys die of diseases [33 various types to be exact]… no wonder there’s no such thing as a “gay retirement community” hahahah

        1. A lot of minorities suffer from bad health stats. And many human behaviors with a genetic/developmental aspect have an impact on health and longevity. Aside from being hateful what is your point?

      1. I’ve met people who have been gay but are now straight. I’ve never met a black person who is an ex-black, except Michael Jackson, but I’ve never met him. Stop comparing gays to african americans.

    1. The fundamentalist Christians who have been at war with equality and equity for GLBT people for 30 years or more need to step back, chill out and remember that they live in a democracy- not a theocracy.

        1. Your logic is exactly right, and I agree with you. But logic, fairness and real diversity do not truly exist in the dictatorial world of political correctness.

        2. Yes–Apple is *not* a government agency, so it can censor to its heart’s content. As long as the government isn’t involved, it’s not censorship, it’s editorial discretion.

      1. You are using the word “militant” in a very misleading sense. Apple has the right to choose what apps it publishes, and to respond to customer complaints as they see fit. Gay rights advocates have the right to petition, like anyone else.

This is not censorship it is freedom expression which is just as important. People have the right to NOT promote or be associated with views of others as they choose.

    1. Apparently there’s no room for freedom of choice either. Nobody is forced to download the app. This is pandering by Apple, pure and simple. Best thing for someone who wants the app to do is to jailbreak the phone and download it from elsewhere.

  2. So sad, so very sad that Apple caved to peer pressure. If some doesn’t like a particular app don’t buy it. The app didn’t advocate violence or immorality. What ever happened to tolerance? It seems that the gay community is the most intolerant group in the country and Apple fell to their pressure to gain what? What end does Apple hope to gain? This is a very sad day. Everyone looses regardless of your view on being gay.

    1. No objectionable content? We beg to differ. Exodus’ message is hateful and bigoted. They claim to offer “freedom from homosexuality through the power of Jesus Christ” and use scare tactics, misinformation, stereotypes and distortions of LGBT life to recruit clients. They endorse the use of so-called “reparative therapy” to “change” the sexual orientation of their clients, despite the fact that this form of “therapy” has been rejected by every major professional medical organization including the American Psychological Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Counseling Association. But reparative therapy isn’t just bad medicine — it’s also very damaging to the self-esteem and mental health of its victims.

      1. Oh horsepoop. Tell that to 5 friends of mine (2 men, 3 women) who over the course of time became straight. They didn’t see engaging in homosexuality as being consistent with their values, and they believed that heterosexuality was *gasp* superior and preferable.

You sound like one of those idiots from exgaywatch.

        1. I also have friends that are gay and they tell me their sexual preference is NOT a choice. So:
“No offense, but I will trust in the words of my friends over you, since it’s obvious you can’t accept anything that doesn’t fit within your paradigm.”
          Right back at ‘cha bud.

        2. No offense taken.

Believe what you want. I know from personal truth. I did not choose to be gay, I did not learn to be gay. I am gay..

You cannot not choose or learn to be attracted to someone. It is instinct, it is inherent..

The only “choice” is whether to embrace or repress those natural instincts.

        3. Funny, I didn’t realize I was cutting off comments. I can’t reply directly to your comment, so did you cut off replies too? Amazing how you accuse me of cutting off comments, and yet you still found a way to reply. So go ahead and try to “upend” my “weak arguments” you silly, silly person

        4. Not only can it be done, it’s been done, and no number of agenda-pushers saying otherwise proves those people who’ve done it are liars. How arrogant, how insulting you are to those people. Why, that’s downright *intolerant* of you.

        5. Yeah, of course it can be done! Just ask two of Exodus Internation’s very own co-founders, Michael Bussee and Gary Cooper!

Not only did they cure their gayness through the power of The Lord, they married two nice girls, and of course helped set up Exodus to cure other gays just like them.

Then in the late 70’s they become lovers, divorced their wives, and ran away together. See? It totally wor… Oh, wait.

Sorry, but Wil doesn’t have 5 friends who became straight. He has five friends who either lie to him or themselves.

    2. The organization tells young LGBT people that they are wrong to be who they are, loads them with guilt, pressures them in a closed environment and turns them into guilt ridden, repressed, self-loathing individuals. Really loving and kind- isn’t it?
BTW- the most intolerant group in America today are easily the fundamentalists within the evangelical christian church. I grew up in it and know of what I speak.

      1. Well, they believe homosexuality is a perversion, so… yeah. Nothing hateful about helping others stop being perverted. Disagree with the premise if you want, but calling them hateful for believing that relies on a circular argument.

  3. So, are the Apple Inc. Hypocrites going to pull all of the apps promoting the “gay lifestyle” that they have polluting their app store?

Not with Tim Cook in charge, that’s for sure.

Homosexuals: The most intolerant things on earth that never stop screaming for tolerance. I wonder if these horrible frauds will ever fathom their total hypocrisy?

    1. You have confused not promoting negative views of being gay with promotion of being gay.

I doubt very much that Apple would publish an app that promoted that being straight or not having had a gay experience was wrong and needed to be corrected.

      That would hypocritical.

    2. Hypocritical is a Baptist Minister in Alabama who ranted against homosexuality and served in The Moral Majority being found dead in 2 rubber suits hanging from a rope with a dildo in his rectum. Funny how that never got on CBN or Faux Newz Channel.

      1. So, you are saying that wearing rubber suits and a dildo in the rectum is homosexual? Only if the dildo was attached to a dude. I have a few dildos and Im not gay. Maybe this was a murder set up to discredit the guy????

    3. I guess that depends on what we are expected to be tolerant of. We will certainly never be tolerant of the injuring of other homosexuals. That is what the Ex-Gay scam does.

  4. Its such a sticky situation because alot of christians flat out believe being gay is wrong and thats written in their scriptures and then you have a gay population how do u allow freedom of religion and silence its beliefs you cant but at the same time no group wants to feel like their is a prejudice against them. This is complicated its not like if their is a racist app because racism isnt really a topic in the bible so of course if a racist app came out its only logical it be banned but a app that is supporting its beliefs in condemning a sexual orientation thats different. I honestly wouldnt know what to do if i was on the deciding board for apps. I my self am gay and dont like the idea of that app but its in a religions beliefs how can i really alter a religion worshiped by millions. I just wont download it but the fact that it sits their others are free to download it and allow its message to begin to stir up ideas but you can only hope that ppl are not influenced by its message.

    1. The people who really believe the bible speaks out against homosexuality are taking it completely out of context. They pick and choose scriptures to fit their brainwashed mentality.

      1. Uh no. 100% incorrect. Actually it’s the other way around. Gay apologists the Bible “completely out of context. They pick and choose scriptures to fit their brainwashed mentality.” We have had the same stance on homosexuality for about, oh, 5000 years.

        1. Yeah, because religion’s always been right, huh? I was also very heavily involved with religion… Until I reached the age of Reason (r.i.p. George Carlin. You are sorely missed!).

        2. Would that be the same Book of Old Jewish Fairy Tales (thanks Bill Maher) that describes talking animals, rivers turning to blood, the sun standing still, 900 year old men, people being raised from the dead by other humans? Uh-Huh.

        3. Im not sure who this mythical “we” is you speak of. It certainly isn’t christians. They have not been around that long. Nor is it most peoples of the globe that have had many more tolerant cultures in 5000 years. So tell me, who has had this “same stance on homosexuality for 5000 years”? I bet it’s a “wide” stance tho.

      2. Leviticus 12:13, King James Bible:
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.”
        …sounds pretty anti-homosexual to me.

        1. My God doesn’t have any particular hatred against anyone. Matter of fact, my God loves everyone equally, and doesn’t think that anyone is an abomination because of who they are attracted to. My God thinks the God of Leviticus is a small-minded, mean-spirited asshole.

Since that’s my religious opinion, it’s equally as valid as yours.

        2. Unfortunately your god who loves everthing you want him to love is not the biblical God…the Real God says that He says he is angry with the wicked every day Psalm 7:11
Also He loved Jacob, but Esau he hated…
I’m sorry, please try again when you find the real God.

        3. Hey, BibleView: Your “real God” doesn’t exist. Thank God I live in a country that respects my position and doesn’t force me to belong to a religion in which I don’t believe. Why should I have to follow your lifestyle and morals when I don’t believe in them?

        4. Thank God I live in a tolerant country where anyone can put up an app *even one that others might disagree with*, without being censored… oh wait… nevermind…

        5. written in a time when they believed that the way youth become fertile is by ingesting an adult males semen. during these fertility rituals older men would force young boys to have sex with them.

        6. I’m sure you also don’t wear clothes made of mixed fabrics (cotton, polyester, etc), and I’m also sure you don’t eat cheeseburgers (mixing meat and milk), and I’m sure you also don’t do the other things that are preached against in the book of Leviticus.

        7. @botvinnik

Dude, you really don’t want to start quoting the Bible to justify your argument.

          Deuteronomy 21:18-21

If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father; or the voice of his mother, and, though they chastise him, will not give heed to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, and they shall say to the elders of his city, “This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

        8. TRUE: leviticus DOES says that homosexuality is an abomination.

LEVITICUS also says eating shellfish is an abomination. Shaving is an abomination. Sexual intercouse with a woman on her period is an abomination.

If you believe in the scripture of Leviticus, then you believe that anyone who has ever enjoyed shrimp cocktail is going to burn in hell.

        9. Hi Mike,
You are terribly off the mark with all of this Leviticus stuff. Way off. Don’t you get the fact that Jesus (The New Testament) was a sin offering for all eternity? He came in the flesh to put an end to sin and ABOMINATION and to the excessive legalism of the Old Testament as fortold. In Jesus we become a 100% new creation. The New Testament at its very essence OFFERS ALL HUMANKIND A WAY OUT FROM OUR SIN NATURE (The ONLY way out). You MUST however read Paul’s historic letters to the Romans at the time their culture was in its last days and homosexuality among other self-destructive sins was rampant. In the book of Romans Paul explains that God DOES NOT DESTROY THE HOMOSEXUAL the homosexual by denying the truth of God removes him/herself from the grace and protection of God. GOD GIVES THE HOMOSEXUAL OVER TO HIMSELF/HERSELF. THAT IS THE DESTRUCTION!!! Translation for the slow of mind: The sinner brings destruction upon themselves. The ONLY sin that Jesus will not pardon is APOSTASY. (denying the sovereignty of God). That is the sin of homosexuality, exchanging the truth of god for a lie and thinking of themselves as being wise in their own eyes. I strongly urge you to read this historic account of the fall of Rome. It is THE homosexual life changer in the New Testament. There is a way out and it is life everlasting. May you find it. God is good and He loves you and His MERCY TRIUMPHS OVER JUDGEMENT.

          “Romans 1

          Greeting

          1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God 2 which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. 5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, 6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
          Desire to Visit Rome

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. 9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers, 10 making request if, by some means, now at last I may find a way in the will of God to come to you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established— 12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles. 14 I am a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to wise and to unwise. 15 So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.
          The Just Live by Faith

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,[a] for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”[b]
          God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.–Romans 1:1-32 CHOOSE LIFE!

    2. Thanks for lumping all us gays together. I know you Christians really appreciate the same courtesy. To clarify, being intolerant of hate is not intolerance, it’s called self-respect. Is a battered wife being intolerant when she leaves her abusing husband. You might be interested to know that Exodus has willfully distorted the findings of many psychologists and presented their research inaccurately to promote their agenda. And as for biblical truth, get back to me when no one’s getting divorced, eating shrimp, wearing cotton-wool blends, or having their period.

        1. I’d say using misinformation and distortion to prey on the gullible while promoting ideas refuted by the APA is hateful. I personally know someone effected by Exodus, distorting their truth because of societal judgements and self-hatred.

        2. “Hateful”. Please, let us ban this word as it being the most overused, yet completely useless, vague adjective, used to not promote discussion but to encourage character assassination.

Try Googling “Robert Spitzer” the man who helped declassify homosexuality as a mental illness in the 1970s, who now says there is evidence that some people can changer their sexual orientation.

        3. I don’t think semantics is the main purpose of the debate here. But fine, let’s exclude the word “hate.” It does not change the fact that Exodus and similar ministries have an agenda and tactics that are questionable. If you misrepresent the work of others you should be held accountable.
Gay youth, already an at-risk group due to societal intolerance, is a target for hucksters like these, promoting that they “pray the gay away” and that they ARE NOT FINE THE WAY THEY ARE, they can transform through the power of Jesus Christ.

As for Robert Spitzer, you are correct. Sexual orientation is a continuum and can evolve for some people. BUT Mr. Spitzer does not express that those who are homosexual can change or SHOULD change because they are not at their best the way they are. You can see how easy it is to distort his work for an agenda, eh?

  5. Tolerance and freedom of speech go both ways, otherwise it does not exist in reality. Gays need to be tolerant and accept the right of freedom of speech of those who do not agree with the gay lifestyle. Who is logical enough to see that the gay movement is one of the most intolerant sectors of society.

    1. I second that. If there are impressionable gay people out there who have found this app and think they can be “normal” when they already are normal, I hope they come to the realization that you cannot ” pray the gay away”.

    2. Being gay isn’t a lifestyle. I tried for years to be straight and it was not happening. The problem is people who feel that gays choose to love the same sex and are all sex-obsessed hetero-phobes. We are not intolerant, we are just upset and frustrated that because of religion, something that should have no bearing on laws, is the one thing keeping us from having the same rights as you. gays aren’t asking for anything special. We just want to be able to have ALL of the same rights straight couples have and civil unions don’t give us those. I find it funny that when the African American community was seeking civil rights and to be treated equal people said the same thing you said. How sad.

      1. Oh give me a break… you gays have EXACTLY the same rights as everyone else.

*I* have the right to marry any woman that will say yes to my proposal.

*You* have the right to marry any woman that will say yes to your proposal.

*I* do not have the right to marry another man.

*You* do not have the right to marry another man.

You are already being treated 100% equally under the law.

        1. Is that how you’re going to present your wife?
“Here is the woman who said yes to my proposal.”
          Instead of:
“Here is the woman I love.”
Damn, I’ll feel sorry for your wife, if you can find one.

    3. Let me see if I have this right… If you’re intolerant of something, you speak out against it. “Gays need to be more tolerant and accept free speech of those who do not agree with the gay lifestyle”. So what you’re essentially saying is: “Gays need to be tolerant of the intolerance of the anti-gays.” But you start with saying “tolerance and freedom of speech go both ways”. Am I the only one seeing the fallacy of this logic?

  6. Jesus this is just as bad as yanking the pro-Christian app. I mean come on Apple, Jesus H Fracking Christ, let those gay bastards go poke themselves in the butt for all I care but why pull an app for expressing a preference for being straight?

What next? Banning an app that advocates frizzy hair for a certain segment of the population?

    1. this app wasn’t an app for straight people who prefer being straight. it was straight people (or gays who hate themselves) who thing everyone else should be straight also.

Well, as a white man, I think everyone else should be white too. And everyone who isn’t should shut up.

  7. Thousands have left the gay lifestyle behind and the gay community does not want anyone to know this. Therefore they must silence ministries that help people leave the gay lifestyle. If people can become ex-gay, then their whole argument about being born that way is mute.

Exodus is dangerous in that it presents the truth. The gay community is not interested in the truth, so they surround themselves with people who tolerate or support their lifestyle.

The message of Exodus is that you don’t have to be gay. There is a way out. Many need to hear that message. The militants in the gay community will do anything to silence that message.

    1. @loganson:

      Paragraph 1: Wrong
      Paragraph 2: Wrong
      Paragraph 3: Wrong

The very premise of “curing” LGBT people means they think it’s a sickness. The American Psychological Association and other such bodies removed that from their list of disorders a very long time ago. Just because Exodus presents its program as compassionate does not mean it is. The very attitude of thinking they have to “cure” and “help” homosexuals is condescending and patronizing to begin with.
Exodus does nothing more than to teach people to internalize hatred towards themselves, not become “cured”. It would be interesting to do psychological, psychiatric and health studies of these people after a few decades of supposedly becoming “straight” to see what the real (and damaging) effects of this program really are.
The problem is not that people are LGBT; the problem is the bigotry directed at them. Exodus simply exacerbates and perpetuates this bigotry.

    2. “If people can become ex-gay, then their whole argument about being born that way is mute…”

Or vice-versa. Which is exactly why the debunked pseudoscience of Exodus should not be promoted. Exodus’ assertion that gays can change their sexuality has been deemed invalid by real science. With their argument rendered mute, Exodus’ bigotry becomes clearly apparent.

      1. Why would anyone download this app? I have not seen it, nor do I think most of the people in this discussion have either. But I do think that if it does not promote hate or violate the rules of the site, it should have remained. Would a straight person download it? Nope? Would an openly gay person who is proud download it? Nope. Would someone who is sitting on the fence download it? Sure. So why not allow them to make a choice about their sexual direction and have the options to choose how to handle their sexual preference as they see fit. It appears that the LGBT side wants every person who has ever “experimented” or questioned their preference, to embrace homosexuality. I have seen many people go through this time in their life when they are questioning who they really are, and if the person chooses to find help, then why not offer options. As you say, people cannot change their sexuality, but they can seek advice if they are questioning. There are those who might explore “tendencies” but does that really make them gay all the way? I once went to a rap concert. Does that make me a gangsta?

  8. @Loganson:

The fact of the matter is, LGBT people are still persecuted, even in the United States, even today in the 21st century. Speaking up in defence of their rights is not talking filth and nonsense; it is speaking up in defence of their rights, and it is a response to centuries of persecution, exclusion and invisibility.

Free speech comes with responsibility; you can’t just say hateful things about people in a public way. Saying hateful things about people is not free speech, it is hateful speech. There are many court cases that define the limits of free speech. And yes, Exodus’ premise towards homosexuality is intolerance – otherwise, why would they want to try to “rid” people of it? They state very clearly that they think it’s undesirable. And the language they use (describing their program as a “cure”) betrays their belief that homosexuality is a disease. They say that they do not hate homosexuals, that they want to help them, but this attitude is condescending and patronizing and is rooted in a belief that homosexuals SHOULD be cured, as opposed to accepted. They cloak this intolerance in a message of “love” and caring, but it’s really not, when you look at their basic premise. Telling someone to become invisible because it’s uncomfortable for others is not showing tolerance or compassion. The problem is not that LGBT people exist; it’s the prejudice that people direct against them in so many ways, subtle and blunt. So apply some critical thinking and really examine what they are saying by their choice of words and their attitudes. It’s really not hard to see their hostility towards homosexuals.

And furthermore, the American Psychological Association removed homosexuality from its list of disorders decades ago. So Exodus (and the user Hypocrisy Alert-the first comment to this MDN article) are living in a different time, still believing that homosexuality is an illness, or that it is equated with things like pedophilia (of which about 95% of the cases are committed by heterosexual men, by the way), zoophiles, necrophiles, etc. It is not, and this has been abundantly proven and declared by bodies such as the APA and others like it. It’s time for you guys to update your thinking and get out of the 1950s!

It is not spewing filth and nonsense to defend your rights. The problem here is not that LGBT people have spoken up in defence of their rights; the problem is the hateful attitudes they have to contend with in the first place. If they were accepted rather than singled out for mistreatment, treated like they were suffering from a sickness, told to be invisible, etc. then they wouldn’t need to be defending their rights, would they? This is akin to beating someone up and then punishing them for telling you to stop beating them up.

    1. The declassifcation of homosexuality from the DSM was highly political decision during the height the early gay power movment.

Dr. Robert Spitzer, who helped declassify homosexuality as a mental illness back in the 1970’s, recently did a premlinary study after talking to some ex-gays, in the early 2000s. He now said that there is evidence that some people can change their sexual orientation.

      1. I’ll say it again, Mr. Spitzer findings are not equivalent to the message of Exodus. Sexuality can change BUT he has never stated that if you DON’T change your are living incorrectly or are “less than.” The premise of Exodus is that you can be healed and, to be healed, they therefore think you are sick. This is horrible messaging and scientifically disproven decades ago.

        1. This is correct, Dr. Spitzer never put a value judgement on it. However, I think in America one has the right to self-determination, that if one truly wants to try to make changes in one’s, for whatever reason, they shouldn’t be denied access to information to do so. And since Exodus is a Christian organization, they believe that heterosexuality, however imperfect and messy it can be, is the best possible arrangement for human sexuality. That’s their value judgement; you would probably disagree. But to pull the app because of such weak criticism smacks of cowardice from Apple.

In the end, as I have stated above, I know 5 people who worked hard on making these changes, and are HAPPIER for it. Who are you, or Apple, to deny someone this possibility?

  9. The outpouring of ignorance on these threads is totally stunning. How do you people lead a high-tech lifestyle with such hillbilly world views?

Good on Apple for doing the right thing. People who advocate sexual self-repression or long term behaviour modification for the sake of satisfying stupid old superstitions do not deserve to peddle their crap on the App Store.

    1. I think we all practice sexual self-repression in one way or another, or at least most of us. You might not. I mean, who wouldn’t want to go bang everything in sight?? I would, but I don’t. You call it self-repression, I call it moderation.
And what do you have against hillbillies? You sound like a cosmopolitan racist yourself.

    2. “Hillbilly world-views”? “high-tech lifestyle” ?
Dude…. or dudette…You can keep your “frothy mix of lube and fecal matter”. I guess that’s pretty high-tech huh? What about Obama’s school czar with his “FISTING classes” given to young high school kids? Yeah…. I don’t see ANY promotion of this lifestyle anywhere. Dash seems to think you have to have lube and brown froth coming out of your anus in order to be considered as living a “high-tech” lifestyle. I’ll stick with “low-tech” I guess.
      Disgusting.

  10. I read a lot of accusations that the app promoted hatred, violence and intolerance, but saw no proof at all. No demonstrable evidence was presented. Disagreeing with someone’s opinion does not constitute hatred or intolerance. And feeling that someone’s actions or condition needs changed and providing a forum for them to find support and info is not violence. They were not promoting the forced alteration od anyone’s lifestyle.

Planned parenthood does something similar. They promote the alteration of a pregnant woman’s condition to prematurely non-pregnant. Do they have an app? Alcoholics Anonymous provides a place for An adult who purchases a legal substance (beer) and gets wasted by choice to find support and information to change his life should he choose.

That’s really all that Exodus is. And no one proced otherwise, just made allegations and accusations, signed a petition, and evoked a knee-jerk reaction to grease the squeaky wheel.

    Shame.

    1. I love how most Americans think it is all or nothing. Grey areas don’t exist in nature or don’t exist in economics? Which is it, because they probably exist in both. Its a lot more involved then simply apple pulling out a app because they think it is offensive. And all the reasons might not be pure reasons or they might be.

And as for this argument on homosexuality. We have not done enough research to figure out to how homosexuality occurs biologically. So, in that case we should treat everyone with dignity and respect. And even if we did figure out the causality of homosexuality, would we still want to demoralize people if they are? Just ask yourself this, are you any different than the kid in the sandbox that sees someone that isn’t like him and picks at him with his words or fists?

  11. Great, now Apple is owned by LGBT groups. Apple, I am severely disappointed at your absolute bias and hypocrisy. Shame, Shame, Shame, Shame on you.

Apple, you claim to be tolerant….why not ACTUALLY live that out and let people sort it out for themselves? Did it ever occur to you that active homosexuals simply DO NOT HAVE TO BUY the app by Exodus International? Perhaps I’ll donate to their Godly efforts.

SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME on Apple.

    Justin

    1. “Great, now Apple is owned by LBGT groups.”
Easy now, Chicken Little. The sky isn’t falling. Love how you jump to the most extreme conclusions though. Very amusing =)

  12. If people are looking to be delivered from homosexuality, pulling the app won’t stop them from finding ways to do it. Not to mention they can use safari to just go to the web site. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Just use safari.

  13. I so wish everyone could get their head around God’s amazing and sacrificial love for his children. If that was fully understood, none of this would be an issue to debate.

    1. John 3:16,19
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

      1. And for us who don’t believe that myth? What then?

In a pluralistic society, no legal group should be able to promote laws to lessen the political access of another.

    2. I agree. If people realized that it isn’t their job to fix people, it’s Gods, and if they could just love people the way Christ taught us, they’d see that none of these things really matter. God does the judging, not me.

      1. Actually there are a fair number of Christian verses that teach that Christians are to teach repentance and admonish repentance to others in the world. You are, again, sadly mistaken.

        1. Tell you what: the day you can prove that the Christian God exists, I’ll start following Christ. Until then, this is America, so let us live our lives without persecution.

        2. Rom 1:20 God’s eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all he has made. That’s why those people don’t have any excuse.

  14. To paraphrase Henry Ford–“You can have any world view you want, as long as it’s the same as mine.”

I’d like to go read what the app was all about so I could form my own opinion and respond to the issues it raised but unfortunately, I can’t do that now…that “book” has been burned in the fires of intolerance, bigotry, and fear.

      1. My opinion is that I wasn’t allowed to form an opinion about the material. I’m being “protected” from it because it supposedly has “hate speech”. There’s violence, bigotry, hatred, intolerance, hate speech, and fear on both sides of this issue. With the app no longer available, I can’t really form an opinion about the material itself. (I suppose I could contact Exodus International to request to see the app’s content.) Some on this forum (and other forums about this issue) are saying it wasn’t hate speech at all. Some are saying it’s the epitome of hate speech, homophobia, bigotry, and intolerance. Who am I to believe? The one who shouts the loudest? The one who is professes to be a Christian? The one who tells us he/she has been cured of Christianity? The one who tells us he/she has been cured of homosexuality? The gay-rights spokesperson? The one who wrote the app? The scholar? The lawyer? The one who quotes the Bible? The one who quotes the Koran? The one who quotes Supreme Court rulings? Those who run the App Store who decided, after all, that it did contain hate speech? I can’t read the material now, so I can’t enter into the debate about it. All I can see is the rancor from both sides.

My father was a WWII vet. He used to say, “I may disagree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” I think the “Greatest Generation” had it right. I’m not sure we still have it.

        1. +1

Far too many people these days say they value free speech, while gleefully limiting the free speech of those who disagree with them. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance, and I’m very much afraid we’re losing that vigilance more and more every day.

        2. Just so you know, Apple is not the government; they are a private entity, and they can choose who gets to sell and what they get to sell through their App Store. Their decision to remove the Exodus App is well within their rights, and it only closes a single avenue for Exodus to push their message through. Exodus still has the right to express their message in any other way allowed under the law. This is not a “free speech” issue.

The Westboro Baptist Church being allowed to protest funerals is a “free speech” issue. While I disagree with the WBC’s message, I do agree with the Supreme Court that as long they are protesting within the limits of the law, they should damn well be allowed to do so.

There is a big difference between the WBC’s case and Exodus’ case. If you can’t see it, then you have my pity.

        3. It is within their right to do so, and it’s certainly not a free speech issue, as you’ve accurately pointed out. However, the removal of this app is pandering to a relatively small percentage of the population who claim to be offended by something they’re not forced to look at. The app doesn’t come as a standard install on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Let the consumer decide.

My regret today is that I didn’t download it yesterday and put it on a host for anyone to obtain.

  15. The American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from its list of disorders for the same reason that Apple removed the app – political pressure and intimidation.

And for the APA it was certainly a militant experience – especially when members cars were rocked and their voting records released. Meetings were interrupted, microphones grabbed. There was a whole lot of stuff going on.

Barbara Gittings brags, “That’s how far we’ve come in ten years. Now we even have the American Psychiatric Association running scared.” (Gay American History, by Jonathan Ned Katz, 1992, p.427. This interview was taped July 19, 1974).

There was no research paper that was done or clinical trials done that made for a scientific change in their stance.

If someone struggles with their sexual orientation and wants to change, they should have that option and choice in life. If others do not, well, they are free to live as well.

The language of Exodus does not promote hatred against gays or violence to them. It does not strip them of their human dignity. It does present a different view on homosexuality and in America, we have the right to our own ideas and their expression.

As for the LBGT community, how is forcing people who are uncomfortable with their orientation morally superior?

    1. “If someone struggles with their sexual orientation and wants to change, they should have that option and choice in life.”

Look what happens to people who try to hide the fact that they are gay: their closeted shame turns to hatred for themselves and other gay people. They try to fight who they are by forcing themselves to believe that being gay is a “choice”; to the hardcore believers of this idea, being gay is as simple as flicking on a switch, and they think anyone else can make that choice. When they can no longer bear the weight of hiding who they are or they are discovered and “outed”, their shame increases tenfold.

The end result is never pretty. Just ask the parents of all the gay teenagers who have committed suicide over the past few months. (Or are you celebrating their deaths?)

Being gay is nothing anyone should be ashamed of, and indeed, your narrow-minded way of thinking ensures that people will continue to be ashamed of it. You should be more open and accepting of people as they are, instead of wanting them to change to fit your specific view of reality. We do not have to conform to a single person or group’s world view, and that includes Exodus.

Apple had every right to pull the app; they are a private organization, and they can choose what is and isn’t sold through their app store. Exodus has not suddenly lost the right to speak their mind and spread their odious message in any way they see fit—they have simply lost an avenue with which to do so. If they don’t like it, that’s their tough luck.

      1. Being gay is something to be ashamed of. It is a deviant lifestyle. There is little commitment and a lot of promiscuity involved with the majority of relationships and the lifestyle often leads to depression and at worst, suicide.

        1. Jason Bummstein = An Idiot and a TOAD! (Toad definition: general derogatory term used to denote a stupid, foolish, rude, or otherwise undesirable individual)
“There is little commitment and a lot of promiscuity involved with the majority of relationships…”
You have absolutely no clue. I know of more LGBT committed monogamous relationship lasting 30 years or more than I do have friends in heterosexual relationships lasting 1 year. Nearly all the hetero-relations ended up in divorce. And why? Promiscuous Cheaters! Asshat.
“the lifestyle often leads to depression and at worst, suicide.”
And why is this? Because the evangelical-bible-thumping Christians tell them “there is a cure”, “their lifestyle is undesirable.” Basically telling them “something is wrong with you – get help.”
Just what if… all us atheists out there start telling you and all your Christian homophobes that “praying and believing that there’s this invisible man in the sky who determines your fate when you take your last breath is demented. There is a cure. Your lifestyle is causing harm to others and is undesirable. Get help.” Perhaps get locked up in a mental ward with white cushioned walls, straight jackets and a lobotomy.

        2. Wow. You’re such a nasty individual. You don’t really know anything about Christianity, do you? Christians don’t point out homosexuality as a special sin. We believe that every sinful tendency is “undesirable” and necessitates a “cure”. That goes for you, too, regardless of whatever sexual preference you have. That goes for *everybody* on this green earth, including me. That’s *why* Jesus came..that’s *why* there is such a thing as Christianity to begin with. Seriously, you want to argue with a Christian about their beliefs, do yourself a favour and *learn* more about it, because otherwise you are wasting your time.

I believe that I have sinful tendencies. So, why is it that I don’t feel suicidal? I don’t feel as if I’m crazy. I don’t feel like I’m a worthless human being. That’s because I believe the Son of God died on my behalf. Obviously, if He loved me and every homosexually oriented person enough to DIE for their sins, then obviously they are not worthless and they shouldn’t commit suicide. If they have ever felt like that, that originates from the Father of Lies..and you are perpetuating that lie by implying that they either have to accept their sinful tendencies or hate themselves. Well, you know what? I and any other loving sensible person rejects that false dichotomy that you imply. I believe that homosexual behaviour is sin, just as I believe stealing, fornication, murder, bestiality, adultery, gossip, lying, unforgiveness, hatefulness, and being disrespectful to one’s parents are also sins! That doesn’t mean I believe that people who are inclined in any of those ways should be hated, because God loved them enough to die for them. He loved me enough to die for me in SPITE of my sinful tendencies (which are different from the one we are discussing). Who would I be to dispute with God that somebody’s sins makes them so worthless? Obviously, I would be just as arrogant as you!

So, you know what? You can go shove it with your smears and your lies.

Having a sinful nature means that there’s something wrong with all of us, but because we are created in His image..we are all of value as human beings. If that doesn’t make sense to you, then respectfully, it says a lot more about you than it does about the “evil fundies”.

Maybe it would be better off that you do accept their sinful tendency, because God help them and you if you can’t love them despite it! You wouldn’t be able to love yourself, because I’m sure there are a lot of bad things you’ve done, and a lot of temptations you’ve fallen sway to.

          Welcome to the human race.

        3. Great strawman argument. I always love the lovey dovie hippy Jesus picture.
I enjoyed the stereo-typical talking points as taken from today’s feel good love everyone new age doubletalk as found in the pages of the recent “new” interpetations of the Bible.
Typical liberal Christian idology (pun intended).
Actually the book says talk to your wayward brother giving him a chance to change his ways, if he doesn’t change…. walk away from him. Speaking of the good book,
          Can you spell abomination?
Who was that angry man with the whip chasing the money changers from the Temple?
One day, each will give an accounting for having changed the words in that good book.
There are Eyes that never sleep.

        4. Let’s see now… You call Regular Reader nasty, accuse him of helping Satan, call him arrogant, and tell him to shove it. Yeah, people don’t get much more “loving and sensible then you, do they?

          Sigh.

          Another fake Christian.

Did you think if you buried the insults and passive aggressive digs undearneath a mountain of flowery talk about God’s infinite forgiveness and how “loving and sensible” you are, it’d just fly under the radar?

        5. Funny, I had a feeling that one would get ’em to show some “true colors” = hypocrit.

First off, Sarah, your reading comprehension skills are severly lacking. I don’t think sins make anyone worthless. Jason Bummstein said something to that effect. And that is why I replied – TO HIM.

As far as you go: Bottom line is this: I do NOT think homosexuality is a sin. Period.

Therefore, your statement: “Maybe it would be better off that you do accept their sinful tendency, because God help them and you if you can’t love them despite it!” shows again how reading comprehension skills just do not exist for you.

I do accept their tendency (notice how I left off “sinful.”)

I believe in monogomous, caring, loving, respectful, partnerships whether it be man/woman, woman/woman, man/man — bottom line — HUMAN/HUMAN. Just cause you aren’t “married” through the eyes of a “church” doesn’t mean shit. Marriage is a partnership and bond that flows through the heart of two HUMANS not through a church. Therefore, I do NOT believe that “fornication” is a sin. I think marriage is a sin. Start labelling people (and belive me “being married” is a label or saying someone is “arrogant” as you so eloquently proceeded to do) and this is what you get… this “disgusting poor excuse for humanity” thread.

Your statement: “you are perpetuating that lie by implying that they either have to accept their sinful tendencies or hate themselves” is, well, bullshit. And again shows your hypocrisy. Let me explain in a real simple sentence for you:

What you and your “arrogant” ilk do is perpetuate the “lie” that they have to “accept their tendencies as sinful.”

They don’t. I don’t. I won’t. That is what can be extremely dangerous about religions and those that follow who “argue” that everyone needs a “cure” of something. (Sound like those pharmaceutical commercials. Please. Enough already.)

Sarah, I’ve done many sinful bad things and have fallen sway to much evil in my short 37 years of life… and… so…. what? I apologized, if needed, learned from my mistakes, moved on. I didn’t/don’t love myself any less. I don’t need anyone “dying” for my sins. Why would I? I handle the shit that I create. It’s called being responsible and sensible. Welcome to being human!

Now, Dog bless your sweet loving, tolerant christian soul, Sarah. (sarcasm intended as I know reading comprehension is hard for you).

    2. Great Post. I thought the history re-writers had erased that historical chain of events and replaced it with “ain’t nothing wrong, everything is OK”. Keep telling the truth and eventually it will free the sexual orientational challenged to find a real relationship with the opposite sex.

      1. That’s funny.. I’m very conservative, my kid brother [who teaches at a local university] is.. surprise surprise.. a liberal loon. YET.. Homosexuality being the most disgusted thing ever is something we both agree on.

        1. This isn’t a democrat/republican issue. I’m not surprised that your brother agrees with you. Homophobic bigots tend to agree with each other on the issue of homosexuality.

  16. As a cured ex-Christian, I don’t care if people want to believe in middle-eastern campfire stories about spacemen – they have the right to waste their time just as much as the rest of us. But that doesn’t give them the right to inflict their ill-informed views on the lives of others. Well done Apple.

    1. inflict: to impose as something that must be borne or suffered. First off, no on is inflicting anything on anyone. It is an app that is available IF you choose to download it. The same as a book in the library, you disagree with whats in it,then dont read it.
I guess by the same reasoning Apple should remove all the apps by Hayhouse, the Abraham-Hicks apps, any apps dealing with Angels or mystical healing, etc….. For dog knows, this is probably offensive to many christians muslims or jews.

      1. From Exodus: we don’t do “ex-gay therapy.” The app is a resource app that pulled in many of our online resources including blog posts, announcements, event information and even a powerful article against bullying.

Also, we do not label ourselves “ex-gay” but identify as Christians who have had or have same sex attractions. Our goal is to live out our lives congruent with our faith. Exodus is here to help those with similar beliefs to do the same.

It’s a shame that Apple caved but rest assured, the reality of our lives, beliefs and message will continue to boldly and lovingly go forward.

        1. As a general policy, I am against censorship although it is necessary in some cases. I cannot say whether or not this is one of those cases. I have no desire to peruse the Exodus material and cannot, therefore, render an informed opinion. But a decision to censor should not be made solely on the basis of the number of names on a petition. History, both secular and religious, has shown that the power of censorship can and will be used to control societies.

Quoted, if your beliefs comfort you and you are happier now than you were in the past, then I am glad for you. I do not personally subscribe to your religion or your message. However, as long as you do not attempt to impose it on me or others, especially through legislation, then I am willing to be tolerant. The problem that I have encountered is that many structures of religious dogma impose the drive to proselytize. That drive has increasingly been channeled into political action, and that is unacceptable to me and many others.

        2. I would not impose or try to force anyone to believe what I believe. I have invited many people to Church and whenever the say no I leave them alone. Others have come to God because they have had christian friends that showed them love through their daily conversation and life style. As a Christian I do invite people to church because of the joy I have found. Will everybody feel the same as me…unfortunately not. But if I see someone struggling with life or going through tuff times I cannot help but testify about how God delivered me. I know there are God haters in this world that could care less and would belittle me, but God has been good to me And whether they believe in Him or not, I will let people know of his saving grace. If they don’t want to hear it I move on. Some have been turned off of Church because of hypocrites or things happened in their life that they don’t understand and they blame God for their hurt. Why do bad things happen to good people? I don’t have the answer. But one thing I do, God is good! Take care.

        3. Your right to believe harmless falsities should be well respected and prptected, and I am sure your behaviour in society is exemplary.
The problem however, as you can see from a frighteningly large number of these posts, is that when people believe in something – anything – too fiercely and vest their whole existence into these mental constructs, then they start first influencing and later imposing on other people’s lives.
Instead of arguing about which preferences or beliefs should prevail, we should instead be focusing on what principles and objectives we are trying to uphold as a society. If we agree on those, the rest will follow through easily; if we don’t then jumping directly to the more easily tangible dilemmas is rather futile.

        4. @Leto

“The problem however, as you can see from a frighteningly large number of these posts, is that when people believe in something – anything – too fiercely and vest their whole existence into these mental constructs, then they start first influencing and later imposing on other people’s lives.” wasn’t that why the app was removed? They influenced & imposed their views to Apple, thus imposing their views on other people’s lives by having the app removed.
