And why is that? Because ATT has been such a good partner (e.g., SMS fees, metered data, and changing iPad pricing 30-days after introduction?).

Maybe they found a breach in the contract with ATT that states the black iphone, and they will sell the white one to verizon 1 year before the exclusivity contract finish with ATT. so next year you’ll have both iphones everywhere 😀

It’s so funny to read these Verizon-related comments here. It is as if there is no world beyond US borders.
Verizon is one of over hundred wireless carriers that may (or may not) be selling the iPhone. All other carriers of the world that currently have the iPhone are selling identical version of it. There is NO exclusivity with respect to features, appearance, design or any other aspect of the device.
If Verizon does get the iPhone, the only difference between that model and the one on AT&T (or any other GSM carrier in the world) will likely be the CDMA chipset inside. Apple definitely does NOT need to make a dangerous precedent by somehow designating a single wireless carrier special, or better than others.
If the white one comes to Verizon, it will immediately (or very soon thereafter) be available on AT&T, as well as in other markets around the world.
I know Apple can make white products because they put white Apple logo decals in the boxes of their various products.

None of this is a slap in ATT’s face. ATT knew exactly when it’s exclusive agreement ended, and has been preparing for it.
Don’t forget, ATT bought into the iPhone without seeing it. Verizon shunned Apple. ATT also jumped inboard with the no-contract iPad plan. So ATT has been a great partner for Apple, and Apple would not screw ATT.
ATT’s coverage issues stem mainly from EVERYONE’s total underestimation of the iPhone’s popularity, in particular how much data iPhone users would consume compared with any other phone. There’s just been nothing like it.

Apple won’t slap ATT for taking the risk when this all started by rewarding the big “V” with Whitie exclusivity. So far the White one is like a Snipe. If it comes out, it will be on both carriers.

Ok it might do well in the US because you have just the one network so anyone holding out for verizon gets to choose what colour they want – that i get, but anyone else that wanted an iphone 4 is likely to have already have one (the vast majority) especially in places like the UK where you can get an iphone on any major network
i broke my bumper this week and the signal is a joke and its still doing the stupid mute thing, i love my iphone but sick of its problems cant wait to ditch it for iphone 5 which will hopefully have learnt some lessons.
