Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 for Mac works with iChat, Photo Booth, iPhoto, iMovie, FaceTime

Logitech today announced that its flagship Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is now Mac-compatible. The newest Logitech HD webcam is not only plug-and-play ready with iChat, Photo Booth and FaceTime, but with the latest Logitech software for Macs, Mac fans can now experience Full HD 1080p video recording and one-click uploading to Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, as well as seamless integration with the editing and management functions of iPhoto and iMovie. And for video calls in HD 720p, Mac users can now enjoy the fast, free and easy-to-use Logitech Vid HD for Mac.

“Today we’re excited to bring Mac fans the first webcam to deliver HD 720p video calling and Full HD 1080p video recording,” said Eric Kintz, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s video business, in the press reelase. “In addition to offering the highest level of video quality in the top-of-the-line C910 webcam and the plug-and-play ease with a variety of Mac applications, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is now available with software that’s designed especially for the Mac.”

In addition to Apple applications such as FaceTime, iChat and Photo Booth, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 will work with virtually every major video-calling client, including Skype, Yahoo! Messenger and Gmail Voice and Video Chat.

If you have a Mac computer, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is easy to set up. There’s no need to purchase additional hardware — simply plug in the webcam and you’ll be ready to make video calls on iChat and Face Time — as well as use the C910 webcam with Photo Booth and QuickTime.

The newest Logitech webcam also works with Windows-based computers. And if you’ve already purchased the Logitech Webcam C910 webcam for your PC, and you also have a Mac, your webcam is now ready for making HD video calls on Logitech Vid HD with your Apple computer.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 lets you record video in 1080p and make video calls in 720p on Logitech Vid HD. It also features premium autofocus (extreme close-ups up to 7 cm) and stereo audio with two mics, one on either side of the webcam lens.

The Logitech Webcam C910 webcam makes it a snap to record, edit and upload 1080p videos to Facebook or YouTube, or post a video link to Twitter, so your video looks sharp when it goes viral. (To record and upload 1080p video, you’ll need to download the Logitech Webcam Software for Mac at www.logitech.com/c910.)

When you want to snap a photo of yourself or your family to send to loved ones, the C910 delivers 10-megapixel pics that you can e-mail with a few clicks. Plus, since it’s compatible with iPhoto, you can touch up your snapshots before you post them to Facebook.

The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is currently available in the U.S., Europe and Asia for a suggested retail price of US$99.99. The Logitech Webcam Software for Mac is available for free download at: www.logitech.com/c910. For more information on the Logitech HD webcams, visit www.logitech.com/webcams.

  1. i guess you would need a USB port anyway…. so when you get the USB you will then also get the built in camera…. so i dont know if that is worth it…. id say this is more of a desktop thing, or laptop but not ipad!!!

  2. I have been burnt twice buying Logitech and their fledgling Mac support.

Logitech no more. How appropriate the MDN secret word is: justice!

ps1. Finally one more USB Video Class camera (minimal Apple requirements for being recognized without drivers on Mac)
ps2. Instead of all the hype, why don’t webcam makers just mention whether their camera is UVC or not. “Vista” or “MSN” “compatible” doesn’t cut it, folks.
ps3. When will someone just think of using the iPhone camera for iPad chatting? If you have the iPad camera connection kit, it is possible, to, at least physically, connect an iPad and an iPhone using the dock connector cable… Or is all it will do is download the iPhone’s pictures?

  3. I have tried a video camera via the Firewire port with great results. Clean, smooth … nice. I’ve tried the same video camera and others with the USB port … with less than spectacular results. Nice pictures – jumpy and choppy but clear. You could see they were clear, they held steady for as long as a second.
So … if this is a USB device, I’d have to see the output before I decide to spend close to $100 on another clunker. Sure, it will interact with iChat and iPhoto and other like software. So what. Will it do so reasonably smoothly.

  4. Despite saying its compatible with iMovie, it is not, the C910 is not selectable in iMovie 11 nor any older versions. Logitech’s explanation of iMovie compatibility is simply that you can record it with logitech’s software of photobooth then import into iMovie… thats hardly compatible/integrated.

  5. his product seems very good for making/sharing home videos, as the sound quality (via duo microphones) is quite excellent, and the image resolution is truly astounding in my opinion. However, I believe that this quality is somewhat limited to the purpose of making videos or taking snapshots. When I used it for video-calling programs such as Skype, the image resolution was scaled down so markedly that the image didn’t seem to me to be dramatically better than what my average webcam offered.

  6. I want to turn the Logitech webcam into a MacGyvered DOCUMENT CAMERA for my classroom. A similarly clear optical quality costs $700+ from ELMO. People with PCs can do turn webcams into docucams, however the software is limited for MACs. I have gone into intense search & experiment mode with the C615 I bought, to no avail. The best achieved was downloading the driver for the IMPEVO. I was finally able to get full screen, but still no focus and zoom features. An hour waiting for Logitech assistance, led me to someone who was reading the same stuff and gave no hope for the C910. I am taking the C615 back.

Before buying the C910, I’d like to know if anyone is finding the C910 fully compatible with the MacOSX. Please, help.
