Beleaguered Nokia to axe up to 800 jobs in Finland

“Nokia says it plans to cut up to 800 jobs in Finland, following redundancy talks that began in October and ended on Tuesday,” YLE News reports.

“The exact number of dismissals will not become clear until spring,” YLE News reports. “Staff members will first be offered voluntary support packages lasting 5-15 months or other jobs within the company. Talks between Finland’s biggest company and employee representatives started in October, when Nokia announced 1,800 job cuts worldwide.”

YLE News reports, “Earlier on Tuesday, Nokia delayed the launch of its next flagship model, the E7, missing the key holiday sales season in major markets.”

  2. Actually nobody will loose their jobs until April/May. They just completed talks between the management and employees reps. Next Nokia will offer 12+ month salary for those who want to leave now, and in spring time they will take a look at who is still left that can be let go. There is also possibility some employees will find new jobs inside Nokia as every year there are people that retire or leave the company.

    So Nokia dudes in Finland, correct if I’m wrong.
