“Qantas Airways Ltd.’s plans to offer Apple Inc.’s iPad media tablet to passengers on its Jetstar flights as it competes for a growing share of the competitive market for low-cost travel in Australia and Asia, a company official told Dow Jones Newswires,” Ross Kelly reports for MarketWatch.
“The iPad, which analysts expect to have sold 4.7 million units during the September quarter, will be made available to passengers on domestic and long-haul Jetstar flights after the device was successfully trialled, the spokesman added,” Kelly reports. “In flight entertainment could provide a new revenue stream for Apple and rival media tablet makers such as Samsung Group, which recently launched it Galaxy Tab hand-held unit to compete with the iPad and Research In Motion Ltd.’s new Playbook.”
