“Microsoft workers celebrated the release to manufacturing of Windows Phone 7 last week by parading through their Redmond campus with iPhone and BlackBerry hearses,” Tom Warren reports for Neowin.
“Employees dressed up in fancy dress and also modified cars to include Windows Phone branding,” Warren reports. “Aside from the crazy outfits the workers made fake hearses for giant BlackBerry and iPhone devices. Employees cheekily claimed they had buried the competition with Windows Phone 7.”
Warren reports, “Windows Phone 7 is expected to be available in late October for those in Europe and November for those in the US.”

MacDailyNews Take: Unmitigated hubris from the perennially outclassed and hopelessly mismanaged. Par for the course.
Okay, TGIF! Hoist! May Steve Ballmer remain Microsoft CEO for as long as it takes!

This is going to make for some excellent fuel for the fire six months from now!
also, very ugly people there. Even the token female probably has a cock
So apparently Microsoft employees are forbidden from using the Internet, televisions, or competing devices. Combine that with heads stuck in dark places and you get these kinds of public exhibits.
If it is the iPhone’s funeral, why is the Windows logo black? Surely not out of respect for Apple, when it should be the occasion for “dancing with a red dress on your grave” by Redmond? It looks more like the Windows desktop color just before it shuts down. They cannot even get making fun right.
That’s about as much class as I would expect from them…
I literally burst out laughing reading the headline. Seriously?
Hope they can back it up. Waiting for the first devices.
Wow such big budgets theses days in Redmond the recession must be hitting them hard, this looks like a primary school fancy dress part with mommy and daddy mocking up the uniforms over night, and the intellectual impact is about as telling.
Maybe they’ll bury it next to the kin

Microsoft is just the most irritating company ever!!! ARRGGHH
They look pathetic…
I recall when Ford was first being threatened by Toyota they held a beer-bust in their employee parking lot and had baseball bats on hand to “beat-up” the Toyota (piniata) placed there. Lotta freakin good that did!
I don’t know what is more “un-cool” the people in the funeral, the actual Windows Phone 7 or the frigging name.. I think I will opt for all 3.
With all the hast and zeal to get windows 7 mobile out the door-they grabbed the wrong phone! The idiots grabbed the iPhone that they used to bring windows mobile from the grave!
They forgot the grab the Windows Phone 7 they had before it went to master. I know how they needed to get that Phone 7 crocus out the door before it smelled any worst. But, gawd!
Be care Microsoft, that may be your last true iPhone on campus and what will you use to copy?!
Oh, and I forgot, employee Toyota owners had to park waaaay away as punishment – lotta good that did!
Millions in marketing and this? Just as much goes into R&D I bet.
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
Is it pathetic or retarded? You decide ..
The iPhone is not doing so well:

Android is kicking arse.
At least Apple has class when they bury the competition. They don’t act childish like this.
Talk about setting themselves up for more embarrassment. And it’s a shame they are wasting time and money on something so silly. What are they trying to accomplish? Increasing company morale?
For a 4-day week, it was a long one. I needed that laugh to end the week.
@ theloniousMac
It’s important to realize that is a _forecast_, not the actual situation. Apple has time over the next 3 years to continue their growth, while the Android market gets more and more fragmented.
And even so, market share does not equal success or customer satisfaction. That’s an important fact to remember when looking at numbers. Even if that is the situation in 2014, hold up your hands if you think iPhone users will be happier with their purchases like Mac users are today when buying a computer?
