Definitely see this for the iPod if they want to keep the classic line alive with a limited display.
Apple’s iPad will one day become a two panel configuration like a real book and then things get really interesting like having the ability to have one side used as a MacBook with an all LED keyboard but switch back to a magazine or whatever for reading as well. This patent points the way.
I was surprised the last time they updated the Classic. I thought surely they’d phase it out for a really large capacity nano or iPod touch.
I’ll be surprised again if they find some non-capacity way to keep it relevant in the face of dropping flash prices.

Noticed on my MacBook Pro this is already there. Pay attention to the light for sleep mode, one minutes it’s there, then when it is off, you don’t even notice the spot it emits from.
