“PayPal documents from the JooJoo/Techcrunch lawsuit show that only 90 preorders for the $500 device, roughly $44k worth, were made,” Brian Lam reports for Gizmodo.
“This is what happens when you launch a tablet the same month as Apple, at the same price,” Lam reports. “And 15 of those turned into cancellations (which were hard to do, we hear.)”
Lam reports, “That doesn’t seem like it’s enough money to cover legal fees or kick production into high gear. I’m going to reiterate our stance: It seems like a great device, but you should wait for things to shake out before putting down more money.”

MacDailyNews Take: New record: iPad has blood on its touchscreen before it even hits customers’ hands.
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Reader “David K.” for the heads up.]
Reminds me of this…
I can’t stop laughing after reading that one.
I would be amazed if that tablet didn’t have production issues if it ever gets released. Who plunks down advanced cash for a an unknown product from an obscure company with no track record?
1st
If the money was collected before the product shipped, that’s not a “pre-order,” it’s a “pre-buy.” Hopefully, they all get their money back.
Ouch. Bad joo joo.
Arrington and TechCrunch are probably relieved to have been freed of their association with this colossal failure.

Damn straight!
Joo Joo Zombies
Looks pretty iPad-like in the demo video, but come on, an Atom processor and Windows & OS?!
Oops, not Windows & OS: Windows 7 OS.
WTF is a JooJoo Pad & who is stupid enough to name it that?
Tarzan say JooJoo have bad juju.
Cheetah. Ungawa.
I suppose we shouldn’t laugh, but after ALL the iPad hate being spread around, it’s hard not to.
Can’t wait for Saturday!
C’mon UPS, do yo dee-livery thang. I be waitin’.
Wonder how sales of Axiotron ModBooks are going this fine April Fools day…
More blood on on the iPad touchscreen before it even hits customers’ hands?
Once again, the tech blogosphere wasting gobs of bandwidth over a pissing match that the general public could care less about. To say this is “inside the beltway” stuff would be an insult to politicians.
It is funny how everyone who claims to have an iPod/iPhone/iPad killer suffers from poor sales. Clearly people are not falling for that Buy-our-product-because-it-is-an-(insert Apple product)-killer line.
@Mr. Reeee
“Ungawa.” Thank you, I hadn’t thought of that in years. I love the old Johnny Weismuller Tarzan movies.
