Apple Online StoreBharti Airtel and Apple have reached an agreement to bring iPhone 3GS, the fastest most powerful iPhone yet, to India.

“Bharti Airtel will start selling Apple Inc’s iPhone 3GS from Friday, the Indian firm said in a statement,” Devidutta Tripathy reports for Reuters. “The phone will be available from 35,500 rupees ($784) for the 16 GB model, and 41,500 rupees for the 32GB model, Bharti Airtel said. Customers of iPhone 3GS will get 500 MB of free data every month for a year from the date of activation, the leading Indian mobile operator said.”

Bharti Airtel is among Asia’s leading integrated telecom services providers with operations in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In South Asia, the company had an aggregate of over 131 million customers as of end January 2010, including 121.7 million mobile customers in India. Bharti Airtel has been ranked among the six best performing technology companies in the world by BusinessWeek.
