Kelly Hodgkins reports for The Boy Genius Report, “In the world according to Sprint, the solution is not the next generation iPhone on the nation’s most improved network, but rather the slim and sleek Overdrive which can offer 4G connectivity to all those ailing iPhone handsets.”

Yep, this is what I posted about here the other day. Just remember that they have a limited 5GB plan for $59.99. They do not offer unlimited.
@Mike T
Actually, according to the Sprint site, 4g is UNLIMITED and only 3g sharing is limited.
According to their site.
I almost bought one today, and may go ahead and do it this week. Just hate doing the contract thing.

Formatting not accurate, but you can figure it out. Unless they’re being deceptive, the 4g is unlimited.

I tried this turkey when it first came out. Their tech support did not even have specs on it. I got one third the speed of EDGE. I tried to post on the Sprint website and they blocked the review. The overdrive sucked. Evdoinfo had people listing how bad the experience was.
Believe it or not, Rogers in Canada has the same thing in 3G, unlimited data, for $35 US per month but you have to buy the hardware.
I’ve been getting about 2.5-3Mb/sec downloads on my iPhone on AT&T;. More than adequate for surfing when I’m out.
Pricewise, it’s not that bad.
You can connect your iPhone, iPad, laptop simultaneously to it, and you can carry it in the pocket.
So, even if iPad’s plan is $30 and this from Sprint is $60, if you drop your iPhone data plan which is $30 you’ll reach the same point. And you have tethering to your laptop too!
Marian,
I don’t think one can drop their iPhone data plan.
Sure technically it’s possible but right now limited coverage and expensive, plus yet another contract lock-in for 2 years on Verizon or Sprint. Not worth it yet, but the competition should be interesting.
They Don’t mention that At&t;has rolled out hspa 7.2 in more areas than sprint has wimax, and that Hspa 7.2 has speeds that are very close to wimax speeds. I average 5500 kbps downlink on 7.2.
Hello everyone i saw the iphone all mobile and i like because iphone has good feature than other mobile….

@Marian,
You can drop your AT&T;iPhone data plan. However, you will lose Visual Voicemail since it does not work correctly over WiFi.

Not sure why this never appears as an option but in these write ups but in ATL, and I imagine most of the other Clear/Sprint cities, Clear is offering a bundle that includes unlimited home and mobile internet for $55.
I’ve been using that with VOIP, a pre-paid T-Mobile sim for those occasions when I’m out of network, and Google voice to tie them all together for about 4 months now and it’s pretty great.
VOIP sound quality probably isn’t quite that of ATT but I have virtually no dropped calls and I’m paying as third as much per month.
Quad Core any other cities you missed with yesterdays announcement? VZW has so much cash why not build and compete? Spectrum is always tough when you got money but not enough place to store it

Food for thought: Now that Ipad 3g is out, users all over forums report that Ipad 3g via att is restricted for video use. Abc player doesn’t work and displays message saying can only be used on wifi connection. Netflix and Youtube are purposely downgraded to pixelated and unwatchable video. Basically, built in 3g with ATT on the ipad is good for basic (non-video) web surfing. Period. That is probably why the monthly cost is only $30 a months (after you pay the $130 ipad purchase premium).
If you instead use Verizon mifi or Sprint mifi or overdrive, then ipad treats it as a wifi connection (doesn’t know it’s 3g), and you get full web browsing, video streaming, etc. experience. Re Sprint vs Verizon — Verizon more stable and in more places, but is only 3G and their device has reported signal problems (doesn’t receive signal very well on the mifi); Sprint has option of 4G in certain places and growing, 4G side is unlimited data per month (3G on both V and S is 5gb a month capped), but overdrive device for some users reports stability problems (resets required) and has shorter battery life (4 hours for mifi on S and V, only 3 hours for overdrive on S), firmware update upcoming supposedly going to solve stability issues.
I have att 3g built into my laptop and have to say that over the past year, it has worked faster and faster — agree that in reality, it works as fast as Clear and Sprint 4G on download and faster on the upload (have tested it all over Chicago). However, that is full service att data in a laptop. From forum reports on net, att 3g is restricted use in reality on the ipad (in other words, you won’t get what you get from it on other devices like computers).
