Apple pushes back shipping dates for iPad Case and iPad Keyboard Dock

“Over the last few days the store has moved the date of the iPad case from 3 April to mid-April while the keyboard dock has been put back to May.”

T3 reports, “Reasons for the delay can only be speculated at but it could just be the sheer demand for the kit… More concerning is the complete absence of the iPad Camera Kit which will allow users to connect SD cards and digital cameras,” T3 reports.

When I buy my iPad, I will absolutely buy the Apple case. I wish Apple offered a similar case for the iPhone and iPod touch.

If the statuses on the orders are still current, it’s definitely supply/demand. I ordered the case for my iPad (ordered at 0830 on pre-order day…), and it still says ‘by April 3′.

Hopefully this only affects orders for those items here on out. I made my order Fri 03/12 ~6:30am PST, about an hour after pre-orders began being accepted, so hopefully all of us who ordered then will get our accessories w/ our iPads. Maybe this is just another good reason to pre-order — people who wait until 04/03 or after will have to wait even longer. Amazing to think that Apple will sell more iPads in its first day or wknd than Google will Nexus Ones in its first months!

wife and I both ordered 2 IPads with cases to be picked up at Apple store Aprtil 3rd., I have bluetooth keyboards, and all items were said to be available upon pickup on April 3rd.

Can’t decide on what keyboard solution to use. I think the cheaper way to go (dock and keyboard combined) would be the way I use the thing most often, so I wouldn’t mind saving $30 or $40 going that route.

But the $29 dock and then the bluetooth keyboard would be pretty slick and I could probably have it sooner. Decisions, decisions.

I’m sort of pissed that the cover won’t be available when I get my reserved 32 gig iPad at the Apple Store on the 3rd. I’m flying to Cancun on April 14th and was hoping to have the device and cover to go with it on the plan . . . You know, don’t want to spill Corona on the damn thing.

I did not order the case, wanted to see it first. I did order the dock, the vga adapter and the power adapter. I ordered the 3G version so it won’t arrive until late may in any case.

I recommend the simple Dock and a separate Bluetooth Keyboard ; this way you won’t be tied a short distance from your iPad. (If I’m not mistaken the Dock/Keyboard unit can’t be “separated”.)

Here’s my WILD speculation -

The RESERVATIONS for pick up in Store are higher than expected, and Apple is redirecting accessories to the Stores for sale on Launch Day.

I have an order in for a Case and Keyboard dock, I just checked the status and both are saying they will be delivered on April 20th. If they’re available in Store when I pick up my reserved iPad on April 3rd, I’ll buy them there and cancel the orders.

What this means is that all of the accessories already produced are spoken for (purchased.) New orders have to wait. The early bird gets the worm. Everybody calm down.
