Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to host Windows Phone press conference on February 15

Microsoft has announced that their CEO Steve Ballmer, whom we hope remains Microsoft’s CEO for as long as it takes, will host a press conference to discuss Windows phones at Mobile World Congress 2010 on February 15 (President’s Day in the U.S.; financial markets are closed).

MacDailyNews Take: You know, because users are clamoring for the world’s most bloated, insecure, cartoonish, and unintuitive OS to be crammed into clunky hardware powered by inferior mobile processors.

The press conference and live webcast will take place in Barcelona, Spain at Mobile World Congress 2010 on Monday, February 15 at 3-4 pm CET.

The live webcast can be viewed here.

  1. @MDN take

God made man in likeness of himself. Why shouldn’t CEOs do the same for cell phone operating systems? Maybe the cell phone OS is just lactose intolerant. (Though that wouldn’t account for the insecurity.)

  2. My best friend is an Apple-hater (“Apple is gay”)… He doesn’t really know the world of Apple, he uses windows for years and is happy with it. He is kind of ignorant I admit, but for his purposes (games) a pc works. Two days ago, he told me he bought an iPhone, and that it’s the coolest thing he has ever had. I wouldn’t buy stock from microsoft – that’s over. When ZuneTang- and I’m a PC-guys start loving their iphones, it’s just over for Microsoft. It will take some time, but the mobile business will have enormous impact to the desktop-market as well. And yes, there is also the ipad, will be a killer, no question… Do you remember C64 and Amiga? That were game-computers. So is windows.

  3. HAHA!

I’m already in the mood for some comedy after reading the posts here on MDN.

Bring on the clowns aka Steve Ballmer!

One last thing – Megan Fox has zits? She probably does though I haven’t been able to get close enough to her to see…hmmm, nice booty though.

  4. I’ll have to skip that press conference. I’m due for an ENEMA that day. Thats more enjoyable than watching Ballmer SCREAM during his presentation. I swear that guy always talks near the top of his lungs when making presentation. Why? It’s not like he’s auctioning heifers after a Rodeo break.

  5. Do you think that the Microsoft “Dancing Monkey” has taken any dancing lessons lately? I hope there is video.

Do you think anyone will ask him about that iPhone that Balmer said will never sell?

  6. I wouldn’t totally dismiss Microsoft (with it’s monopoly position and power) so easily.

MS’s MO is to wait and watch what others do, move into successful markets and then steal and (try to) improve on the best-of-class, in this case, the iPhone.

The hard and innovative work has been done by Apple (and also copied by Google (Android)) so it’s just a matter of trying to improve any perceived iPhone shortcomings and ta da… MS has just “innovated” and created a new and greatest smartphone!!!

It’s biggest obstacles to success will be the Apps Store and the advantage it presently gives Apple, having Ballmer at the helm and MS’s penchant for screwing up even when shown the way.

But those last two obstacle may not be there for long with many of the “old guard” leaving and new blood taking their place.

Can’t count on MS’s incompetence forever.

  7. Megan Fox has zits?

A sign of true love (Valentine’s Day is approaching).

Her boyfriends sucks the pus out of her zits!

  8. Ballmer is going to talk up WinMo :

“One day it will be great. It isn’t ready but boy I wish you could see it. Shareholders please note that we will provide the best experience on a mobile, one day. One day soon. Promise. No really, promise.”

Does Microsoft think anyone, other than Enderle, Thurrott, Dvorak and a 100,000 spotty youths, still believe what they say?

  9. MacCanuck says: MS’s MO is to wait and watch what others do, move into successful markets and then steal and (try to) improve on the best-of-class, in this case, the iPhone.

Like they did with the Zune?

  10. I wish I had video skills. I’d take scenes from “Aliens” and mix them with Balmer’s talk on Window’s phones.

On the iPhone: “Hey, maybe you haven’t been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!”

On the future of WinMo: “Let’s just bug out and call it even, OK? What are we talking about this for?”

How to catch up to Apple’s software advantage:
female engineer: “We better think of something. We better think of a way.”
Balmer: “Think of what? We’re f*cked! We’re doomed here!”
female engineer: “I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.”
