   @krquet Maybe so but M$ problem is that they don’t sell PC hardware. Yes, they have the Zune, Xbox 360 and a line of mice ‘n’ keyboards but thats it. For them to make a splash in the retail market they should go a step further and offer a “Premium Line” of W7 based systems not totally unlike Apple. Of course they have an upper hand of sorts if they offer netbooks along with the laptops and desktops. To keep the “partners” happy they’ll offer the contract to them to build these premium W7 ‘puters and price them higher than their similar equipped offerings but lower than Macs. That would help but would it work?

   Thank goodness Apple are using blue shirts in Frankfurt. I don’t think red shirts would have gone over very well.

   Now if only Apple would dump red shirts around the rest of the world.

   - Red shirts traditionally signify commies.
   - In Star Trek lore they also signify the guy whose gonna die that episode.
   - Apple changed to red from their previous set of shirt colors because Microsoft, *BIG YAWN*, totally ripped off Apple’s shirt color scheme. It’s called imitatovation or imipotatovation.

   Actually, you can see they’re giving away the usual Apple teeshirts with the store name on them. They’re in those white boxes by the fronts tables.
   I have to admit I’m hooked. I went to the first Apple Store opening, and have been to two others, since. I’m a Baby-Boomer, and I’d have to describe these events as “Happenings”, which is now a somewhat an archaic term.

    This kind of enthusiasm just isn’t ever going to happen at Microsoft stores. I think the enthusiasm actually comes from people who are happy about the great Apple experience after going through mediocre to poor Microsoft offerings. All around the world it’s the same. It looks like Apple’s UI experience and product simplicity is a universal language.

    Remember the small hand full of people that were there when the 2 Microsoft stores opened? Remember the Gateway stores that closed many years ago?

    The reason Apple is doing so well with these stores is because they are pure, run by Apple, informative, hands on demo and training. The people are not pushy and products are not being sold by what maker can under cut the other.

    The old school word was a “turn key solution”. If you need IT help (and I do mean IF) they are there for you.
