Meh. Not bad unless you already needed one of the items, but not really enough to jump in the car and brave the crowds at the apple store.
Come to think of it, I haven’t seen ANY black friday deals that really knock my socks off. Has anyone else? You’d think with the economy, they’d be pulling out all the stops.

That is because Black Friday is a scam. It is the “discount” price retailers would like to sell you an item for and not the price they would sell it to you for if they found themselves on Dec. 23 with too much inventory.
In other words these prices are arbitrarily set by retailers and not free market prices. People should stay home today so, the real savings can begin in about a week. Nothing lowers prices like nervous retailers.

Black Friday prices are equal to yesterday’s Education Store prices – and today, on Black Friday – there is no extra discount on those eduction prices.
So what Black Friday really means is that everyone is a Freshman today.
Actually, the Black Friday prices are $1 less than the Education Store discounts. These new prices may reflect the devaluation of American college degrees in the Great Recession.

@Raymond in DC. By ‘they’ in my second post, I meant tech and other retailers in general. I know Apple’s not going to give away any deep discounts on Black Friday or any other day.

And you are right. Apparently, no other retailer believes that a massive loss-leader would bring in enough wallet-opening folks in order to recoup the losses. Some tried it last year and took a major beating, so even retailers are cautious this year. Couple that with the fact that the saving rates are a bit higher than last year (i.e. people have a bit more money saved than a year ago), and you have yourself a rather lackluster Black Friday.
Apple did this year what they do every year — lower it by few percentage points, just to nominally participate in the game.

For anyone expecting fire-sale discounts on Apple products… Why would Apple sell it for less when they can meet their sales goals selling at full retail price? These token discounts on Black Friday are just to tap into the general “buying mode” of consumers that day.
