What about the T-Mobile store?
Every little helps as Tesco would say ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
Who cares…
I live in Ohio not the UK. I get no AT&T;reception! Verizon maps of AT&T;is accurate!
Yeah WMD, coz the interweb tubes are limited to USA. Apple only sell products to American consumers. MDN only hosts US-centric advertising. Oh wait!
Tesco? That means every chav, gypsie and pikey is going to have an iPhone soon.
Way to loose your cachet and tarnish your brand Apple.
@WMD
Move to the UK then! ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />
@WTF
i take it you shop at Waitrose then?
inbred.
I stand corrected. If ASDA were selling iPhones then every chav, gypsie and pikey would have one.
As Tesco are selling iPhones it’s the mass market (of cost conscious consumers) who will get the chance to buy them; although of course they could buy them from telcos like O2, Orange and from January Vodafone.
But those people who prefer to buy everything in their life from one supermarket, they can be reassured and purchase an iPhone from their grocer.
Let’s face it, this isn’t really huge news. O2 are simply offering their contracts through a new retail channel to counteract the new competition from Orange and soon to be Vodafone.
The iPhone has plenty of retail outlets already. That it will be available on other networks is a much bigger story.
This is a big deal. Tesco is huge. Out of every £1 spent in the UK high street, 12p of it goes through Tesco.
Dave H,
Have to respectfully disagree. Remember that the iPod’s dominance is due to a huge number of channels to sell the product. It took Apple a while to build that up but now helps to maintain the product line.
The iPhone can operate the same. The more channels it sells in the greater chance of someone buying into it.
Macs are slowly go that way too. More and more large scale vendors like Best Buy in the US and Tescos in the UK are selling Macs. It widens the audience and makes a big difference in selling the product.
@Alasdair Scott “Out of every £1 spent in the UK high street, 12p of it goes through Tesco.”
That’s wrong. In 2005-ish it was 1 in 8 pounds, by 2007 it was 1 in 7 pounds, current estimates are 1 in 6 pounds (approximately 17%) of all retail spend in the UK is with this single retailer.
That’s just retail spending, Tesco also sell: banking and insurance, DVD rentals, broadband, etc.
Great another carrier outside US is selling an iphone. And we here have to stick wif shitass At&t;!!
@ WMD
I get no AT&T;reception either!
But then – who cares…?
I live in the UK, not Ohio. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”cool smirk” style=”border:0;” />
Competition & diversity in supply is good.
But something inside me shudders when I think of Tesco handling iPhone sales.
@WTF
i stand vindicated and in addition your last comment, please add:
idiot. to your list of attributes.
do you really think you can classify people by they’re choice of supermarket.
when you have to shop in asda or Tesco, one day you will. then you’ll see the majority of people are in there are young families trying to make ends meet.
