New Apple ‘Get a Mac’ Web ad targets Windows XP users: ‘Make the ultimate upgrade. To Mac.’ (video)

In a new ad now running on such websites as The New York Times and Wired, Apple shows security cameras outside an Apple Store which reveal “PC Switchers” choosing to make the ultimate upgrade to superior Macs instead of Windows 7ista.

“PC” takes matters into his own hands. At the end of the ad, Apple’s text states:

Make the ultimate upgrade. To Mac.
If you’re going to upgrade, why not really upgrade: to the computer with award winning iLife software, helpful Mac Geniuses, and a #1 rating in customer satisfaction.

  1. I really like those dual interactive banner ads Apple does. They are really fun and I haven’t seen anyone else pull it off quite as well.

The fact that I would say that I like an ADVERTISEMENT means that the the ad is very good

  2. I believe this is a take-off from the line, “Never ask a man if he’s from Texas. If he is, he’ll tell you. If he isn’t, don’t embarrass him.” Citations I found in a quick search go back to at least 1945, although sometimes it reads, “There’s no need to ask a man what state’s he’s from. If he’s from Texas, he’ll tell you himself; if he’s not, why embarrass him?”
