“Released today, Apple’s new Mac OS X Snow Leopard is a Web browsing speed demon,” Mark W. Smith reports for The Detroit Free Press. “On my system — a 24″ iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo — the launch time for the Safari browser dropped from 4.5 seconds in Leopard to just over 1 second in Snow Leopard.”
Smith reports, “Browsing the Web is noticeably faster, too. Pages load quicker and streaming video seems to stall less.”
“Apple has rewritten the Javascript engine in its flagship browser Safari to render sites like Google Maps faster,” Smith reports.
