Photos of Apple’s Mac OS X Snow Leopard disc and retail packaging leak?

“MacRumors has received a set of images claimed to be the retail packaging and disc for Apple’s forthcoming Mac OS X Snow Leopard,” Eric Slivka reports for MacRumors.

“If the images, which appear to depict the Portuguese version of Snow Leopard, are in fact authentic, it would mean that Snow Leopard discs are already in mass production,” Slivka reports.

You guys are treating this like its a new OS…. Apple doesn’t share your views. It’s been advertised as an improved Leopard. I think the packaging reflects that train of thought quite well.

i checked the apple PR site and the images for the snow leopard packaging have been removed. it appears there has been a change and that this might be the legit design.

Yup the cat has definitely been photoshopped – it was a tabby before – you can tell by the pixelation of the whiskers.

Oh, so the “public beta-testing” version of Snow Leopard is coming out in late August or in September?

You guys all have fun beta testing Snow Leopard, and when it gets to around 10.6.8, I’ll join in the fun.

I was burnt. Never again. I’ve got the T-shirt to prove that I purchased Leopard on launch night, and installed it that very night, and then spent hours queuing up for Apple help desk to cure the dreaded screen of death. I’ve learned my lesson. Let the impatient fanboys beta test it for a year, and then come on board when it’s nice and stable.

Besides, in this instance, I won’t be missing much by sticking to Leopard since the majority of improvements are under the hood.

The boxes could have been in production for the past year.. The disks, maybe not quite yet. With plastic, without, whatever it takes to shoot the ad copy.
