“Sometime in the second half of 2009, Apple will launch ‘a completely new device category’ based on chips produced by PA Semiconductor, a company Apple acquired earlier this year for a reported $278 million,” Eric Savitz blogs or Barron’s. “That’s according to Trip Chowdhry, an analyst at Global Equities Research.”

Savitz reports, “He also contends that Apple in the same time frame will launch a next-generation iPhone based on a PA Semi chip which will supposedly provide 2-3x the battery life and 1.3-1.5x the performance. Chowdhry also says that the new chip will have the Objective-C instruction set built into the chip, ‘boosting application performance by 2x.’”
