“Reports that President-Elect Barack Obama is actually a Microsoft Zune user have been crushed last night by one of Obama’s spokesmen. ‘Not true, the President-Elect uses an iPod,’ addressed the spokesman to Philadelphia City Paper – Neal Santos’ accusations,” Daniel Ionescu reports for PC World.
“It all started with a blog entry on the Philadelphia’s newspaper website of Santos saying that Obama ‘hopped on the machine next to me [at the gym] and broke a mean sweat while reading a copy of USA Today and listening to his Zune,'” Ionescu reports. “During the campaign, Obama and now Vice-President-Elect Joe Biden, both claimed to use Apple computers and music players.”
Ionescu reports, “Now, with Obama denying of actually having a Zune, Neil Santos is saying, ‘I don’t know for sure that it was his.'”

Obama a Zune user? C’mon! The guy is intelligent.
Even Bush isn’t stupid enough to use a Zune… and Bush is tree-stump dumb.
No smear during the campaign against Obama’s character could be more damaging than linking him with the Zune.
And in fairness to his “Crackberry” addiction, the Blackberry is approved for use with the mail servers used by the U.S. Senate, the iPhone still isn’t. Therefore an iPhone may not have been an option for the Senator.
I think you’re mistaken.
Mr. Reeee: “Ignorance is bliss”, huh?
Has anyone really sees a Zune in the wild, that is about as hard as seeing a Dodo bird in the wild.
Almost everyone uses an iPod and 1 out of 4 use a Mac. Let me know when you see an iPhone in the First Lady’s or their kid’s hands.
Keep deluding yourself. People who are “tree-stump dumb” don’t become two-term U.S. Presidents.
I suggest you stop listening to truly “tree-stump dumb” Hollywood actors and connect with reality for once.
I suggest you stop listening to truly “tree-stump dumb” Hollywood actors and connect with reality for once.
Neatly forgetting Ronald Reagan, Charlton Heston, Arnie and Patricia Heaton in a single sentence.
Thanks! I’ll take your advice.
People who are “tree-stump dumb” don’t become two-term U.S. Presidents.
Yes they do.
If they have their campaigns organised by people who are smarter than they are.
If they’re voted for by people who are even dumber than they are.
How many people in the USA believe The Book of Genesis to be the literal truth and that the world is only 6,500 years old. Too many.
Balmer, Balmer, Balmer… Tsss! Tsss! Will you just stop with these sensless attempts to make believe that some worthy personnes could ever intent to use a zune…!
@Get Real
Mind it! Yes some of these fools can be elected… and even twice, in USA!!!
When Bush was re-elected all the world thought America was doomed… and maybe would pull down everything with it (wich as partialy been done, in fact)!
Confirmed:
Barack Obama has already backpedaled on his “windfall taxes” pledge.
And almux?
Which part of Bill Clinton’s deregulation frenzy was Bush’s fault?
Inquiring minds want to know!
Mr. Reeeeeeee. It takes one to know one. Can you fly a jet? Fool.
That’s strange to see this. I remember reading an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer a few days ago where it explicitly said he was using an ipod.
Here’s the article.
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/world_us/35457574.html
“Dressed in plain gray sweats and a blue ball cap, Obama jogged for 30 minutes on one of the club’s high-tech treadmills and put in 15 more on an elliptical machine while plugged into an iPod.”
I’ve never even heard of this Santos guy.
my kids know 2 people at school with Zunes – apparently there is some teasing as well. Teens are sooo susceptible to branding coolness, so no big surprise there.
Barack Obama’s iPod actually was confirmed by numerous sources back in June, including CNN, Rolling Stone, ZDnet, etc.
From one June 2008 article in the U.K.’s Telegraph:
What is on Barack Obama’s iPod?
Bob Dylan, Jay-Z, Howlin’ Wolf, Yo-Yo Ma, Sheryl Crow, Miles Davis and Charlie Parker may have little in common musically but they each have a place in the “pretty eclectic” selection on Senator Barack Obama’s iPod.

The Democratic presidential nominee told “Rolling Stone” magazine that his iPod also contained tracks from singers and groups he grew up listening to in the 1970s, including the Rolling Stones, Elton John and Earth, Wind & Fire.
He named Stevie Wonder as his biggest musical influence from the era while his favourite “Rolling Stones” track was “Gimme Shelter”.
“If I had one musical hero, it would have to be Stevie Wonder,” Mr Obama said.
“When I was at that point where you start getting involved in music, Stevie had that run with Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Fulfillingness’ First Finale and Innervisions, and then Songs in the Key of Life. Those are as brilliant a set of five albums as we’ve ever seen.”
He was gratified to have been endorsed for president by so many of his musical heroes. “”I’ve got to say, having both Dylan and Bruce Springsteen say kind words about you is pretty remarkable. Those guys are icons.”
JPS: Santos is from Philadelphia City Paper not Inquirer. Nor wonder he’s a flop.
At least that PC World guy made some sense of this mess.
They kind of went out of their way to confirm that the president-elect in fact does NOT use a Zune and is an iPod user. As if it was some propaganda against Obama that had to be stopped!
As for flying a jet, it doesn’t require that much intelligence; just a lot practice (obviously, the more intelligent you are, the quicker you’ll learn and the better you’ll be at it). Not that GWB was actually ever that good at it (ask his superiors, or read through some testimony and records from that time).
If idiocy and/or insanity is repeating the same thing and expecting different results, then Obama is indeed a maniacal moron for extolling the failed social and economic policies of Hoover and Roosevelt.
there goes another $10 thousands to Santos…
Figured he had the Brown Zune.
Obama=Carter Redux
I believe he also has an iPhone…
This week’s GOP talking point: President-elect Obama has a Zune.
Last week’s GOP talking point: Presidents Hoover and Roosevelt had comparable social and economic programs.
GOP talking point after Barack Obama won the election: The US is a Center-Right country.
Hit-bait…
Does it matter what he uses to listen to music on the go?
If he was a Zune user, and you found this out before the election, would you have not voted for him, because if it?
Only a moron would support or not support a candidate based on whether or not they owned a Zune or an iPod.
Only moron would consider that ownership of a particular assemblage of glass, plastic, and metal has any rational correlation with a person’s intellect and ethics.
@John,
“JPS: Santos is from Philadelphia City Paper not Inquirer. Nor wonder he’s a flop.”
The Philadelphia City Paper and the Philadelphia Daily News are two minor newspapers here that only report on news that involves black people. Yes, I am not kidding – it’s 2008 and there are still racist people and publications out there. Amazing. Because, you know, replacing historical double standards with a modern double standard makes everything better.
What do you think would happen if someone started a newspaper that would only report on news that involves white people?
