Apple airs new ‘funnest’ TV ad for 2nd-gen iPod touch (with video)

Apple yesterday introduced the second generation iPod touch featuring a thin contoured metal design, a 3.5-inch widescreen glass display, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi wireless networking, integrated volume control buttons, a built-in speaker for casual listening, a built-in accelerometer and other advanced sensors, and Apple’s revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface. The iPod touch is now available starting at $229 for the 8GB model.

Apple has begun airing a new iPod touch TV commercial which CEO Steve Jobs debuted at yesterday’s “Let’s Rock” event.

Even though Steve was still thin you can tell from his face that he was better. Now on to the ipods….
I was disappointed the new ipod touch did not have gps. I wouldn’t have minded if it was slightly thicker (like the iphone 3G) if it had a gps chip with full onboard maps. All it had was nike+? I wouldn’t run with an ipod touch anyway.

Ironically, it was the new ipod nano I was more attracted to. And I think I will be buying one. They are just too cool and no they do not remind me of the zune. The only thing I don’t like about it is that the new nano should of had nike+ integrated and not the ipod touch.

Apple is not using “different” as an adverb (it’s a noun, just like the Pink Panther’s “Think pink” in the Owens Corning ad). It’s about what you should think and not how.

“Think small.”
“Think Dodge.”
“Think big.”

I am so happy that Apple has not corrupted the French grammar with the new ipod title.

In English, it should be “the ipod with the most fun” or “the most fun ipod”. It is impossible in your language to say properly, “the funnest ipod”.

But in France, the title is “L’ipod le plus fun”. Parfait. Even if it uses the English word fun.

Showed the ad to my DS and Wii-playing son. He said it was like the Wii version of Mario Kart. Then I told him that it was also an iPod that he could surf and check mail on it here at home or anywhere he could find a WiFi Hotspot. At 14, he’s old enough to save up money from his job to buy things, at least he should be discerning enough to blow it on good stuff.

Language evolves. people make up new words and it gets widely accepted and before you know it, its in the dictionary. Have you noticed how “actors” now refers to male or female artists? When was the last time someone used “whom” correctly? And yes, even in France they borrow English words. So “funnest” is hip.

Hahaha. That was a good one. That commercial makes no sense!!

I have my 1st gen iphone and still love it. Go Apple, kick butt.

Smart of Apple to emphasize the iPod Touch’s game-playing abilities as well as its music-playing ones — it really has the capability of becoming a first-rate gaming device à la the PSP. And the gyroscope gives it a timely and helpful similarity to the Wii controllers that creates a unique controlling style…Coupled with its stellar music-playing features and the web-browsing and all the other attributes, this is one nifty gadget that will no doubt find its way into a lot of stockings over the holiday season…

You know, here’s something interesting.

It takes Microsoft 2 “celebrities”, cryptographic dialog, and a minute and a half (or even more) to get people talking… and they’re not even talking about the product!

All it takes Apple is a word or two.
