Digg founder Kevin Rose is reporting that Apple’s forthcoming (September 9th) iTunes 8 will include a new feature called “Genius, which makes playlists from songs in your library that go great together.”
According to Rose, the new feature will also include the “Genius sidebar, which recommends music from the iTunes Store that you don’t already have.”
Rose reports that with iTunes 8 users will be able to:
• Browse artists and albums visually with new “Grid view”
• Download TV shows in HD quality from iTunes Store
• Sync your media with iPod nano (4th generation), iPod classic (2nd generation), and iPod touch (2nd generation)
• Enjoy “a stunning new music visualizer”

Sounds to me like he’s looking for Diggs. Sorry buddy, no dice!
hey call him chuckles because he tosses chairs maybe?
What I’d like to know is when iTunes will be able to identify unknown tracks ala the amazing Shazam for iPhone? The iTunes “Get CD Track Data” command is practically useless for identified recovered music files.
new visualizer is cool..
gotta admit, the screensaver in leopard is fuckin sick
God,between Kevin Rose becoming a “reporter” and Digg with it’s hourly Sarah Palin bashing….I can’t take this seriously.
Wish they would add the visualizer feature to tv.
Now all we need in iTunes 9 is a feature where it listens to your music for you.
Pandora is about to go belly up because of the ASCAP and RIAA greed hounds; wonder if they have tried offering themselves up to Apple?
Please don’t mention Sarah Palin. You’ll wake up twilightgoon.
Kevin got all the iPhone details wrong, despite intimating he had inside sources.
Who does not know Apple will release a new iTunes version eventually?
I just do not trust Rose’s track record.
I want Apple to release a new iPhone App, and remove the reliance on iTunes for iPhone Management. It really is weird how we are using a Music App to manage the Backup/Sync/install Apps & Updates… it all seems a bit clumsy and I’ve fallen foul of a lot of corrupt iPhone backups and weird App behaviour lately -my music and movie watching is suffering! Notice how when you are Restoring an iPhone, you cannot use iTunes at all – it greys out the Main screen and you cannot watch movies, listen to music, podcasts… All because my iPhone needs to be restored.
What I would like is Version 2 of iPhone Configuration Utility, containing ‘Backup’, ‘Applications’ and ‘Sync Settings’ tabs, and a ‘Basic’ setting that hides all Enterprise/Certificate settings. This new App handles everything that isn’t music, and hopefully better than iTunes does now. Then a redesigned iPhone Music Sync Page in iTunes that doesn’t involve scrolling through a tiny window list like we do now. Maybe a CoverFlow screen with a big fat green tick if you want to sync that song/album.
Please make it more fun to sync my iPhone Apple, it’s all a bit checklist-y and boring at the moment.
Cheers.
@ alansky
If by “recovered music files” you mean illegal crap MP3’s you got from LimeWire then you are right. Otherwise you are wrong.
Why do they explicitly list the “iPod touch (2nd generation)”? What about the first generation touch? And, for that matter, both versions of the iPhone?
What? What? WHere???
I liked Kevin’s idea that people should have to quit using fossil fuels so rock bands could tour more and not worry about their carbon footprints.
It shows that he has good taste in weed….
I will not say anything about Scary Sarah.
Is there anyway to link 2 songs together so that they always play together even in shuffle? Like the “The Launch and My Destination” on Boston’s Third Stage or any intro and next song. If not I wish they would add that feature.
@ mike
“gotta admit, the screensaver in leopard is fuckin sick”
Does that mean that you think it is really good or really awful? Sorry, I get confused without the other cues of expression.
Pants.
iTunes Unlimited ????????? yes or not??????????
Palin and twighlightmoon rock. You liberal-US hating-terrorist-free handout loving at the expense of hard working people-morons can kiss my ass!
jaime… Sounds like you have a problem
First take your head out of your ass.
@Uh duh,
My name is J A M I E not Jaime…
And no I am not the only one suffering these problems. There are a lot of people suffering at the moment with endless Apple logos and crashes, corrupt backups.
I’m not flaming, I’m being honest. If that’s too much for your little brain to compute, then I pity you.
Rose has a woody for Apple. Quit your job and apply. Enough already.
