According to reports, Santa Clara Countyfirefighters have put out a blaze that burned for more than three hours at the headquarters of Apple Inc. The first reports of smoke came at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and the fire was contained by 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The three-alarm fire scorched the roof and the second level at one of the six buildings on the company’s northern California campus in Cupertino, according to a report from The Associated Press. Local television reports say that the fire was at a “Research and Development” building and that there was extensive fire and water damage. About 100 Apple employees were working late at the time of the fire.
“It was extinguished early Wednesday morning and no one was injured,” AP reports. “Senior Communications Dispatcher Rafael Salcedo says the fire was ‘not very big, but there is going to be a lot of smoke damage.’”
