“The iPhone 3G is a huge hit, with 1 million of the new smartphones sold since Friday. As the owner of one of them, I’ve put it to some very heavy use, using it as my only main contact with the outside world since Saturday when I headed to Muskegon and the start of the six-day Michigander Bicycle Tour,” Mike Wendland reports or The Detroit Free Press.

“I have used to iPhone to keep in touch with family, naturally, and to manage the e-mail I get from a bunch of different accounts. But I’ve also used it to take photos and post them, on the spot, from some very out-of-the-way locations as we make our way north to Traverse City and Friday’s finish,” Wendland reports. “I have been very impressed with connectivity. I had super solid 3G AT&T wireless network access from Rockford, our first night’s stop… Even on the trail as we made some 60 miles Monday up to Edmore, I never lost EDGE network speed, about half as fast as 3G but still more than respectable.”

“I have fallen in love with Apple’s new App Store… And I am really impressed with the camera on the iPhone 3G. It’s the same 2 megapixels that came on the old iPhone but I am noticing across the board quality improvements,” Wendland reports.

“I couldn’t be happier with this new iPhone,” Wendland reports.
