Apple iPhone 3G launch in Norway – total chaos! (with video)

Mac1.no was streaming live from the launch of iPhone in Norway. Netcom (the network provider) threw a launch party where 400-500 guests were invited. In this party they gave away 200 “skip the line” tickets. They dropped 200 ballons on the crowd and each ballon represented one guaranteed iPhone. The result was total chaos which you’ll see in this video from the event:

  1. “The result was total chaos”???
What was chaos about it? Just looked kind of organized, no pushing, shoving, crawling over each other. Chaos… no, fun, yes. Who writes these headlines???

And who shoots such bad footage???

  2. I think he/she meant economically. In truth though, that is perhaps a shoddy yard stick for measuring a country’s value-I think that’s found in it’s content, as with anything. I lived in a real third world country with my family as a child (in the West Indies), and though it was lacking in virtually every modern convenience (one television channel that was actually broadcasting something some of the time, fresh produce from a market or neighbor, because well, it was the only produce, very few cars, no fast food of any kind, etc.), at the same time, people’s lives had a freedom to them, they were unencumbered in a fashion we fail to achieve in the more developed world. Still, I think Norway is a bit further ahead of the curve than that; Europe ain’t Ethiopa.

  3. Please, get informed! some of the comments are incorrect. Norway isn’t a Third World Country (TWC), nor a poor one. Who knows Norway’s GDP? Why even compare a Continent, Europe, with a country, Ethiopia? Is this fair and scientific?

Norwegian Language, Bokmål, is a “sibling” to English. In Norwegian, “kaos” means almost the same as “chaos”, in English. But in usage, these seemingly close words may show slight semantic differences. This “chaos” here, may mean wild, fun, terrific, etc, etc, and not destruction, etc! A kind of literal translation which may fail to capture and convey the real picture and hence the true meaning.

Only NetCom’s monopoly and steep pricing which can be described as a kind of “chaos”.

  4. guys.. this seems to have been a LIVE video stream via Wifi. You don’t edit live videostream via Qik. They are prob. streaming of an Nokia N95 or something.

Qik is really impressiv, can’t wait for the iPhone version. The party looked like a real treat. Lots of nice girls. Check the pictures ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  5. Visto’s Bisto must have been pulling what little hair left wondering why they didn’t think of that idea for Visto’s launch, of course there are no more chairs left by now! any chair worth its salt will not go anywhere near Bisto’s soft!!!!

  6. 3rd world!?
I have frequently noticed quite a lack of knowledge to all things non US on this forum, and this really proves it.

I work as an quite ordinary engineer, if they have any left I could go buy 10 with what’s left of my May paycheck. And her they do cost from 1200 $ and up.

So get a bit educated about the world.

  7. Ive just been on a holiday to Norway and it’s very far from being third world! Fucking Americans and you ignorance to anything beyond your shores… no wonder the rest of the world hates you.
