mmm. thievery corp.
Ouch. Once again our Canadian brethren get a raw deal. Still no unlimited data. Does Rogers have any 3G coverage?
Rogers is a merely a brand-name as it is under the
AT&T;Canada umbrella.
Hence the pricing differs NOT from AT&T;USA.
And in my opinion, is over priced for my needs.
ABSOLUTE BULLCRAP
If you have to pay extra for “Essentials” then they weren’t ever really essential were they…
While their plans do indeed suck, they really aren’t that much worse than what AT&T;offers.
Here’s what your $75 per month buys you on each…
Rogers: 300 Minutes, Unlimited Nights & Weekends, 750 MB Data, 100 SMS (outgoing) Unlimited SMS (incoming)
AT&T;: 450 Minutes, Unlimited Nights & Weekends, Unlimited Data, 200 SMS total (incoming & outgoing combined)
750 MB of data may not sound like much, but remember this is on a mobile phone, not a desktop computer. If you really need to use much more than that on a mobile device, you’re probably going to go blind soon from the eye strain of staring at a tiny display for too long anyway.
Ah great, just great. I live in a country which will probably be the first on the assessment list indicating sub-par iPhone sales/adoption. Thanks (Fl)og(g)ers
UP TO 400Mb for 60 box?
Telcel in Mexico only offers up to 30Mb per month on its 3G plans.
er pardon me Canuker, but 750Mb is only about 4 hrs of internet radio.
I wouldn’t really have cared if Rogers had come up with a $100 unlimited plan (or even $150). I just want to know how much its going to cost me month to month. Right now the bill is basically a blank cheque to Rogers each month……
I hope Apple see that Rogers are sullying the Apple brand by doing this……
considering that my Rogers cellphone bill is already over $100 a month regularly, this is a steal (probably more for Rogers than me) but still better than I had thought it would be.
Not mentioned:
system access fee $8
911 charge $.50
tax of course
and the fact that they count minutes for the Visual Voice Mail against your total… they do that with their service now and “included” sounds suspiciously like they still will.
Remember, evenings start at 9pm unless extra fee. Which is completely crazy.
@dafish
Rogers is not a subsidary of AT&T;, it’s Canadian owned and operated
Canucker, did you adjust for currency differences — I assume the Rogers prices above are in CDN, and not USD.
Just read this on a local tech blog: RIM must be tickled at these just released rates:
iPhone;
$60 for 150 minutes of talk and 400 MB data
$75 for 300 minutes and 750 MB
$100 for 600 minutes and 1 GB
$115 for 800 minutes and 2 GB
Blackberry:
$30 for 300 MB
$60 for 1 GB
$80 for 3GB
$100 for 6 GB.
“Remember, evenings start at 9pm unless extra fee. Which is completely crazy.”
Except that Verizon has the same provision, So who’s crazy now?
Oh, and Verizon doesn’t even let you lower that to 6 pm with an extra fee!
Now THAT’S crazy!
This is ridiculous. Canadians are getting RIPPED! 🙁
I thought they’d offer unlimited data for sure. Frickin’ Rogers.
Is there any other country where unlimited data isn’t offered for the iPhone?
I wonder how similar the Fido plans will be. Not posted on fido.ca yet.
Again, we Canadians get shafted!
For me minimum will be $75.
That’s ok .. I’ll cancel my Rogers Home Phone (Landline)
@Frank,
the Blackberry numbers are the data rates and do not include any voice plan.
Still, the rates are very high.
Shouldn’t 9PM read nights & weekends.
I personally don’t call people after 9PM without a good reason and never after 10PM unless it’s an emergency.
Rogers just lost an iPhone customer.
Strike my currency comment above — so used to the CAD being at a 33% discount to the dollar. Now at near parity. USD is not what it used to be (sigh).
So CAD ~= USD.
Do you know ANYONE who is going to get an iPhone and NOT get Call Display? And it’s $15! Seriously…
Leave it to Beaver.
One way to screw both Apple and Rogers over,… DONT BUY THE PHONE AND WHEN THEY ASK WHY? OVERPRICED.
its no wonder Steve Jobs brough the phone down to 199$ three year contract (in Canada)…
Do the math…
Basic rate plan…
75$ x 36 mths = $2700 lol for absolutely NOTHING!
Most expensive plan without service or taxes…
$115 + 20 = $135 x 36 mths = $4860 plus 199$ = 5100+ lol
Anyone want a top of the line notebook??? KEEP YOUR CURRENT CELL AND BUY A MACBOOK AIR … CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!! WAKE UP APPLE AND ROGERS AND SMELL THE COFFEE… IT AINT BREWING July 11th
