Gary Krakow: ‘Steve Jobs has either gotta get BlackBerry or Windows Mobile on iPhone’

Gary Krakow, formerly of MSNBC and currently TheStreet.com’s senior technology correspondent, has always stuck us as a doddering, out-of touch, wannabe-but-ain’t techie.

Now he’s gone beyond simply being out-of-touch to completely out-to-lunch. On the issue of what “Steve Jobs needs to do to get the iPhone competitive in a corporate environment,” Krakow intones:

Steve Jobs has to bite the bullet… He’s either gotta get BlackBerry on there or Windows Mobile on there. It’s the entire answer.

Here, just watch the video:

Wha? Was that a joke? Sonuvabitch, if that mess is what passes for a “senior technology correspondent” on TheStreet.com, then TheStreet.com is even more useless than we previously believed (which would be an impossibility). What a train wreck. Krakow must have incriminating video of Jim Cramer. That’s the only logical explanation we can imagine that accounts for his continued employment.

  1. what an idiot. Did he forget how much the iphone is killing windows mobile already? RIM better get their crap together… they are going down fast. Interesting to see numbers after the new iphone is out.

  2. I don’t understand. Is he saying that the iPhone should run the Blackberry OS, and Windows Mobile, on the iPhone hardware?

If he does, that is foolishness! Why replace the iPhone OS, with a crapper mobile OS?

The iPhone has only been in the market for around a year. With 2.0 coming out, and 3G capabilities, and being sold in loads more countries than before, it should take off.

  3. This boob is about as far out of touch with reality as you can get. Any 2nd Grader can add 2+2, but for some reason KraCOW can’t. Don’t forget to pick up the new 3rd Grade book about Gary’s life entitled “Why Gary Can’t Analize”.

  4. Is he serious? He wants Apple to license Win Mobile or BB and use it on the iPhone? hahaha

I can understand his issue, you can’t beat a monopoly. But Apple is sure doing a pretty good job right now.

  5. I wonder, when the iPhone gets exchange support,if it will support exchange as well as WM,or as well as Nokia or Palm for example.

With WM 6.1 and Exchange 2007, you can not only remote wipe the device, but you can selectively disable the camera or the bluetooth or the wifi etc.

Will Exchange Activesync on the iPhone just bring push e-mail and remote wipe,or will it go the whole shebang. I suspect not.

  6. This guys is a freakin idiot!!! Did someone forget to tell him that it’s time to retire? If not, dude take it from me, you are not in the loop anymore, you peaked a long time ago and it’s time to go play chess in the park and feed the squirrels. By the end of 2008 this video will haunt you…

  7. I have a “corporate” Blackberry. And the only thing I can see it’s tied to is Microsoft Exchange Server. There’s absolutely nothing else going on with this thing.

Once version 2.0 hits the streets and works well with Exchange, then that will open up the technical ability for Corporate America to embrace the iPhone. Plus all of the other development of 3rd party apps…..

  8. screw firing him. make him wear a red shirt and stick him on a remote island with a large monster. If he can make the windows mobile device work long enough to call for help, and surivive until help arrives he can live.
