iPhone ‘Currently Unavailable’ via U.S. Apple Store online

Want an Apple iPhone in the U.S.? Don’t bother trying Apple’s online store which lists both the 8GB and 16GB iPhone models as “Currently Unavailable.”

Get ready: Apple’s next-gen iPhone doesn’t get more imminent than this!

The U.S Apple Store is here.

MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC – starts June 9th) sure seems far away, doesn’t it?

  1. I’m in the market for a new phone…. if the new iPhone is half as good as everyone’s making it out to be, I may be first in line….

kind of like this is the first post. . or the second..

  2. obviously the 3g phone will be available on 6/9. Smartly they want to minimize returns and old stock. Enough info has been leaked so that anyone interested in buying a phone now will wait for the imminent release. Duh!

  3. New iPhone now, and then something else later in June. Maybe new hardware or something bigger. Maybe a tablet, or a next gen iPod. I would like an integrated washer dryer. Bluetooth communication. Tells one to speed up if the cycle is finishing sooner.

“many” as in many new things coming!

  4. The most interesting thing here is that it says ‘unavailable’, rather than giving a several day shipping delay. Every day it looks more like 2.0 will be out sooner rather than later. And it looks like that 10 million sold in ’08 will be a no brainer if all of these countries we’ve been hearing about actually do start selling it. If Apple gets something worked out in China and Russia, you can just forget it, they won’t be able to make iPhones fast enough. I can’t wait to see what that Nokia boss has to say about iPhone around mid December. My guess is that it will be something along the lines of ‘No comment’. The second half of the year is shaping up to be a blockbuster for Apple.

  5. Where there not rumors of a May release several weeks back? Yes, they were centered around Italy. By May 20th we should see iPhone 2.0. That doesn’t mean software 2.0…That would be at the WWDC along with what ever else Steve has up his sleeve.

  6. Better to make people wait than have them buy the outdated model a week before the new model is introduced and then winge and whine about how Apple hoodwinked them. This is especially true if big price cuts are coming. Sure Apple will loose a few sales to RIM, LG and the other sucky look-alikes, but those customers will either come crawling back to Apple or they weren’t really going to buy an iPhone anyway.

  7. Maybe this is just a way to prevent the enormous whining that would follow when people who just bought a 1st gen iPhone realized that a new version has been introduced. By not selling any iPhones for a month or so before the launch of the 2nd gen iPhone Apple eliminates the whining. Ha!

  8. Frankly I like my iPhone so much as is, the only thing that could get me to upgrade is a 32gb capacity. Otherwise I’m fine with 2.0 which hopefully has a universal landscape keyboard, like the latest iPhone ripoffs have shamefully beat Apple to, among other improvements.

  9. It is currently unavailable in the Australian and New Zealand Stores, too.

I feel so so like we are part of the global Apple Family for this short moment! BUT these feelings of false euphoria will soon fade!

  10. I love my current iPhone, but so many times I’ve wished for more capacity. If the new phone has a minimum of 32GB AND a decent 3MP or 5MP camera, then it’s a no brainer for me – instant purchase ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
Although if there’s a new design MacBook Pro anounce at WWDC then, god, it’s gonna be an expensive month for me …

  11. Same here, AT@T’s 3g coverage doesn’t reach out to my area (I live outside the Dallas/Fort Worth metro) so I’m looking for more capacity (32g) for more storage of apps/media.

    32g or nothing. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”cool smirk” style=”border:0;” />

  12. I think Apple underestimated the demand for iPhones leading up to inevitable introduction of the new 3g version. They are trying to parcel it out slowly to carry them through till WWDC where they will introduce the new one, but won’t actually start selling until the end of the month.
