“Apple’s MacBook and MacBook Pro portables are fast approaching their historical ‘days between revisions’ averages. We are also approaching the 2007 holiday season so rest assured that Apple will release new models very soon,” Switch To A Mac reports.
“Many buyers have held out from purchasing a new MacBook or MacBook Pro for two key reasons. The first was to wait for for Mac OS X Leopard to be released; the second for systems with Leopard pre-installed. We expect new MacBooks to be released on November 6, 2007 followed by new MacBook Pros on November 13, 2007,” Switch To A Mac reports.

…and new Mac minis.
and 13″ ultra-portable multi-touch mac… in other word the iPod of productivity !!!
MacBook have historically been released in this time frame and considering they were not released today, next week would be a good bet, but it’s very doubtful MacBook Pros will be released until January when the new Penryn processors (if I remember my codenames correctly) are available from Intel.
OT: Another switcher. My grandparent’s PC finally bit the dust, and I’ve convinced them (pretty easily after all the Windows headaches) to get a mini after they threatened to buy another cheap PC. Picking it up for them tonight. More humanity spared!
No, the First Penryn processors are due on November 12:

MDN: Enough already! Stop beating a dead horse.
@orion
Last year, Apple got “dibs” on the new intel processors and was selling machines several weeks prior to the chips being released to the rest of the market. It’s not unimaginable that they might pull a similar stunt this year.
I just ordered my Macbook Pro yesterday…already going to be obsolete, eh? ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />
Intel knows who will best put jam on their biscuits.
Or should i say– who has the best tasty sauce for their chips
The Mac Pro’s are much longer overdue than the laptops.. Let’s hope..
I ordered my macbook the day after Leopard went on sale. Spoke with Apple today and they said you get 14 days to return the notebook. So now I may not even open the box when my new macbook arrives 🙁
“[…] the First Penryn processors are due on November 12.”
Yes, but they are mostly for desktops and servers.
Dear Apple, my joy of a computer to use for, well since you have been in existance.
Dear Apple, if you decide to eliminate all matte screen notebooks in favor of annoyingly glossy ones, rest assured:
1: I will NEVER BUY ONE.
2: I will NEVER BUY MUCH OF ANYTHING FROM YOUR COMPANY AGAIN.
3: I will NEVER RECOMMEND A MAC to anyone, which I have been doing faithfully for over 20 years.
Glossy has it uses, but Matte Screens are overwhelmingly prefered by most people who use the computer extensively. Check the online polls.
Dear Apple, I hope you listen.
The problem with upgrading the MacBooks without the upgrading the MacBook Pros is that the CPU speeds are very close. 2 and 2.16 for MacBooks. 2.2 and 2.4 for MacBook Pros.
An upgrade to the Books would superficially put them on par with the Pros.
New MacBooks, MacBook Pros, and Mac Pros will be very welcome and surprising. I wonder how Apple will improve on designs that are the epitome of great design?
Apple Store is down!
just kidding.
A 12-inch MacBookPro is all daddy wants this year. Well, maybe a 13-inch MacBookPro. I assume that Apple will take cash for this item.
In both 2005 and 2006 Apple updated all Macs before the holiday buying season. 2007 will be no different.
I too expect updates to the portables as well as to the Mac Pro. There’s also an outside chance that the mini will be updated. The iMac won’t be updated.
Mark:
I wouldn’t think that a cheap, flimsy plastic shell would make any MacBook “on par” with a MacBookPro and it’s aluminum case regardless of the spec of its innards. If there is no metal surrounding my delicious notebook, I’m not buyng it.
