  1. “This site is not a “gay site”, it’s a general interest site geared towards men . . . straight men. “

    Keep telling yourself that.

“That being said, I’m a gay man and I personally think Jonathan Ivy is hot!”

Case made. No straight guy would place him or Justin Timberlake in their top 49 men of the year. Or, if they were even to spend their time rating other men, they wouldn’t come up a list which is mostly actors, entertainers and fashion designers.

  2. “metrosexual (met.roh.SEK.shoo.ul) n. An urban male with a strong aesthetic sense who spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle.
    —metrosexuality n.”

That’s the politically correct way of saying latent homosexual.

  3. Men judge men all the time, in very non-sexual ways. Do you watch football, baseball, basketball, NASCAR? Are you a fan of any movie star such at (early) Marlon Brando, DeNiro, John Wayne, Sanatra? Have you ever refered to another man as a “bad ass”? To judge another man in this way isn’t to find them sexual attractive it’s a comment on what they represent and what other men aspire to: being a man’s man, a lady killer, a made man, their aesthetic, etc . . . . Most importantly, it’s about men who are comfortable with themselves.

Get a grip, check your meds, and see a therapist about your internalized homophobia, you latent homo.

Admiring another man for what he has achieve has nothing to do with finding him sexualy attractive. Unfortunately, you seem to have a problem differentiating the two, how sad.

  4. Nice anterior open bite, Kanye!!! Suck on that pacifier a little too long as a child? Or was it your mother’s tit?

Hey rappers! Learn to smile. I’m tired of seeing scowling black men on the cover of magazines trying to look like a badass. And it’s a wonder that NWA persona lives one. Complain to society when that attitude is out of style.

  5. And you aspire to be an ass. Or are you upset because no one, man or woman, find you attractive both as a person or sexually? Or that you’ll never achive in your life what many on that list have.

BTW, the term “metrosexual” was coined to discribe other straight men who happen to take care of their outward appearance, have some sense of style, are secure with themselves/their masculinity, live in urban settings, have disposable income, and are vastly heterosexual; it’s a demographic generalization.

  6. “it’s a demographic generalization.”

It’s a politically correct term for latent homosexual.

    Used in a sentence:

“I’m not Gay, really, no truly I’m not, I hardly ever fantasize about sex with men, I’m just stylish, I’m not Gay, really, I’m not Gay, I’m Metrosexual,.”

  7. Once again, you demonstrate you’re ignorance and internalized issues with you’re own masculinity and sexuality. Being a latent homosexual is just that, a man or woman who has “potentially existing but not presently evident or realized” homosexuality. Metrosexuality has nothing to do with one’s sexuality, it’s a generic term used to describe hetreosexual men who dress well, take care of their appearance, live in urban areas, have disposable income, and have an appreciation for fashion or have a style aesthetic.

It has nothing to do with being politically correct, its a term used for marketing/advertising purposes.

I use the term ass to discribe you not as a reference to you’re buttocks, but to point out the fact that you’re a jack-ass.

  8. “it’s a generic term used to describe hetreosexual men who dress well, take care of their appearance, live in urban areas, have disposable income, and have an appreciation for fashion or have a style aesthetic.”

Only metrosexuals use that definition. The rest of the world just thinks they’re gay but not admitting it to themselves yet.

Now we’re up to jack-ass. What will I be next, a blow hard jack ass?

  9. “demonstrating you have some serious internalized issues with your own manhood and sexuality. “

Well, you keep showing suprising ignorance of how the world views “metrosexuals”.

It sounds more like it’s you struggling with issues of sexuality, who’s found a label “metrosexual” that you can use for yourself while trying to convince yourself that you’re not gay.

The lady doth protest too much methinks.

If you were comfortable in your sexuality as you say, you wouldn’t care what the world thinks Metrosexual means.

Guess what: I couldn’t care less whether you’re the biggest screaming queen out there. Just understand what Metrosexual means to the non “metrosexual” members of the population.

  10. Just to let you know, I’m the one who posted the section from the Askmen.com “About” page, and I mentioned that I was gay. So, no I have no problems with my masculinity nor my sexuality. As a gay man, I’m just trying to point out the fact that you’re ignorant and have internalized homophobia and can’t tell the difference between a catch phrase used for marketing purposes to describe a trend and actual human sexuality. I never once said I was, or considered myself, a “metrosexual” you’ve projected that upon me, which seems to be indicative of, shall i say it again, you’re own internalized homophobia rooted in you’re own shame of being a latent homosexual.

  11. “can’t tell the difference between a catch phrase used for marketing purposes”

it’s clear you don’t even know what you’re talking about,

To quote an article from the guy who introduced the word:

“Gay men did, after all, provide the early prototype for metrosexuality. Decidedly single, definitely urban, dreadfully uncertain of their identity “

“while its lusciously produced, semi pornographic quarterly catalogues deliver conclusive proof that male narcissism (in photograpic shorthand: Weber-ism), is only ever a post-workout shower away from homoeroticism. “

“Perhaps because it represents the definition of recreational sex and doesn’t remind them of their heterosexual responsibilities but rather of their homosexual possibilities (the exhibitionism of male metrosexuality is literally asking to be fucked), or maybe because it’s seen as a kind of extreme sport (it involves trusting your life to some stretchy rubber and taking the plunge), anal sex has become the unholy grail of metrosexual sex. “

“By way of contrast, the relaxed, faggoty, submissive metrosexuality of David Beckham, posing for gay magazines and more than happy to wear pink shirts — and even pink nail varnish — may be less overtly pathological”

  12. The more you post, the more you demonstrate that you are in deed a homophobe. Homophobia is often rooted in a shame a man/woman has in his/her own latent homosexuality. Get some therapy, use the google search bar in the upper right hand corner of Safari and find a good therapist to help you deal with it.

  13. Allow me to assist you in your pursuit to understand the definition of the word “metrosexual”

    Main Entry: metrosexual

Definition: a heterosexual male who has a strong aesthetic sense and inordinate interest in appearance and style, similar to that of homosexual males
Etymology: 1994; blend of metropolitan + heterosexual

You might also want to read the article in Askmen.com or on Salon.com about the term, a simple google search will help you find the articles you need.

The man who coined the word, Mark Simpson, in 1994, as a way to “chronicling a new male prototype he saw emerging in society. The term has been co-opted in the past few years by fashion companies, though, as a marketing ploy: Give people an identity to strive for, an attractive pigeonhole to squeeze into, and, like sheep, they’ll buy anything associated with it.

In a Salon.com article entitled “Meet The Metrosexual” (July 2003), Simpson said, “old-fashioned (re)productive, repressed, unmoisturized masculinity was being given the pink slip by consumer capitalism. The stoic, self-denying, modest straight male didn’t shop enough — his role was to earn money for his wife to spend — so he had to be replaced by a new kind of man, one less certain of his identity and much more interested in his image… A man, in other words, who is an advertiser’s walking wet dream.”

Please make note of the phrases “marketing ploy”, “consumer campitalism”, and “advertiser’s walking wet dream”.

You’re use of the word to mean latent homosexual has nothing to do with how or why the term was created. It is, however, indicative of some sort of internalized homophobia that you seem to have.

  14. “You might also want to read the article in Askmen.com or on Salon.com about the term, a simple google search will help you find the articles you need. “

Gee dumbass, all the quotes in my immediately preceding post are from Mark Sampson.

    To quote even your post:

“The stoic, self-denying, modest straight male didn’t shop enough “

“had to be replaced by a new kind of man, one less certain of his identity “

In the above sentence Mark Sampson doesn’t mean his name, rank and serial number when he refers to “identity”

Mark Sampson is of no misunderstanding that Metrosexual means a guy who has latent homosexual tendencies. Why should you be?
