Watch the iPhone Activation & Sync video on Apple.com:
http://www.apple.com/iphone/usingiphone/activation.html
After the video’s host selects all his playlists, Music, Vidos, Podcasts, etc and Syncs his phone he shows the Used and Available Space on the iPhone which shows 80GB of iPhone storage space. The host states, “This bar at the bottom [of iTunes] shows you how much room you have left on you iPhone…”
Is this is a simple mistake or is there an 80GB iPhone lurking about deep inside Apple?
[Thanks to MacDailyNews Readers “Npalamidis,” “Fred Mertz,” and “Josh” for the heads up.]
80GB would mean a hard-drive based iPhone. I doubt we’ll see one of those.
Editing slip-up.
I hope it’s a future upgrade, but it’s more than likely a snafu.
Steve, ever the master showman!! Why do I think that this was planned??? LOL ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />

MDN word develop as in Lets see what develop s.
Big deal, my beta iPhone has 80 GB. You can hotswap the flash ROM for a 1″ disk drive. I thought everybody knew that.
!!!
If this really is One More Thing, I think we’re in for a crazy weekend.
This is Steve’s iPhone.
While this could be a HD based model that Apple uses internally, I would guess that commercial iPhones will have flash memory.

“80GB would mean a hard-drive based iPhone. I doubt we’ll see one of those”
Exactly, unless they’ve got some VooDoo flash memory that we don’t know about. And a HD based iPhone would never get the kind of battery life they’re talking about. If this is a mistake they’d better damn well fix it before the word gets out.
I think that someone inadvertantly put in a shot of an iPod screen instead of the iPhone screen. It’s a mistake for which someone’s head may roll since it could potentially cannibalize the market for the current offerings.
Of course it’s real.
But they had to cut out the software upgrade progress bar screen shot that said it had 2,574,382,456 minutes remaining.
@Bruce: his is Steve’s iPhone.

Umm … take a look at the vid again .. it says 7.27GB in the Phone info even though it still shows that graphic on the bottom. Bug or photoshopped from an 80GB iPod.
better download the video while you can..my guess is that within the next few hours it will updated and a new version will be posted..minus the slipup.
sorry to burst your bubble people,
it was a typo, we meant to display megabytes
@ Apple worker
So it’s an 80 MEGABYTE iPhone? Uh, yeah. No.
The same screen that shows this also zooms out to show that at the top the iPhone reads as having a capacity of 8GB. Editing error. Nothing more…
More surprises coming…….
In either case… Digg IT!!!!

That’s what people said about the 12th icon. That it was a mistake.
11:15 Eastern… Its still up… I’m sure Apple would have pulled this if it was incorrect. In any case…great way to generate some additional buzz…
I think they were using an 80GB iPod so that they could make it look like you can sync all your “music, tv shows, movies, podcasts, etc..” with no worries…
What will REALLY happen with the iPhone is that you’ll be constantly choosing to have “a few playlists of songs, 6 podcasts and 1 movie” on there at any given time due to the limited storage..
The “that all doesn’t fit on your iPhone” error message wouldn’t have looked good in the demo video…
; )
Anyone else notice that the 25-minute iPhone video tour host clearly stated the iPhone offers “16 applications,” although there are currently only 12 application icons on the Home screen?
I just downloaded a new copy of the video and it’s still there.
If it is a mistake, has NO ONE at Apple seen it yet?
If true, this would be awesome!
The only reason I’m NOT getting an iPhone is that I still would have to carry around my 80GB iPod. I got too much music, kids!
Plus, you can’t use the iPod on the iPhone if you discontinue your ATT contract. — THAT’S BS!
