Now Google Earth makes it easy to search for Apple iPhones via AT&T retail stores nearest you.
When you use AT&T’s free plug-in with Google Earth, you can view all of their retail locations on a 3-D aerial Google map and find the one that suits you best.
It’s easy. Just download, install, and launch the Google Earth application, if you don’t already have it.
Then just download and install AT&T’s free plug-in application.
All AT&T locations are clearly marked with the AT&T logo. When you find the store you want, click on the AT&T logo to view the address and phone details. You can save your searches and even email them to others.

That’s smart marketing.
Where’s the hookers plug-in? (not, where do the hookers plug-in – different question)
I hope it tells you how many iPhones they have in stock now that would be cool.
Apple shares hit new all-time closing high – again.
smarketing.
What a load of tosh!
It’s not a plug-in app, it’s a KMZ file
How long would it have taken AT&T’s new media bigwigs to at least have broken the file up by state (if you’re in Alaska, you don’t really care about Florida) and – pushing it a little further – by area code, zip code or somesuch.
“That’s smart marketing.”
I agree. Couple this news with the articles on MacRumors and Appleinsider about AT&T upgrading their EDGE network in time for the iPhone launch and I would say Apple made the right choice in going with AT&T. AT&T certainly made the right choice, too, in going with Apple.
Verizon, your days with me are numbered!
Shhhhhhh
Damn, I figured this out long time ago with intention of going to an obscure ATT Store out in the middle of Gumpstump where the local populace is clueless about the iPhone, and has barely heard of computers (Computin’? Yea, we know all about computin’. We just take our shoes off when we need to count real far).
But now – cause of YOUR big mouth MDN (thank you very much), I’ll probably have to contend with all the other city slickers who’ll be trying the same thing.
Oh well, let’s see if any ATT Stores in B.F. Egypt
BC Kelly
(At an “undisclosed location”, which I could tell you, but then would have to tickle you to death. And do wish that damn Cheney would find his own hiding place.)
Apple should do some in-store specials, promos, and giveaways on June 29. There’s gonna be tons of people at the stores and a lot of potential switchers.
The people at Google need lessons in the use of the Norton bombsight, I sense.
The Google plug-in shows the local Cingular store in a radically different neighborhood than where it actually exists. Even when Google maps is used for the location’s address, the marker for that location is far off the mark.
Somebody isn’t paying well enough attention to mapping details, I suspect.
There is a little known secret known only to Camel’s Milk Drinkers…….It will remain that way for now! Mwaaaa Ha! Ha!!!!
