  1. So, if it costs (something like 2 dollars) cheap to unlock the card, what is QT selling for $179?

They’re selling you a wireless card that supports 802.11n, but the thing is, some (most?) of the newer macs already have this, you just have to “activate” it. Moral of the story: make sure you don’t already have a card that supports wireless n, before you go and spend $179…

  2. Every Core 2 Duo (except the iMac 17″ 1,83 combo with integrated video card) have an Airport built in card capable of 802.11 A,B,G,N with A and N unlocked by the software included in the new AirPort Extreme (the New one with 4 ethernet port) or the cheap software downloadable by the Apple Store Online.

And every iMac 24″ are Core 2 Duo, so if you want to spend 179,00 $ to unlock it buy the AirPort Extreme, you’ll the base station for the same price.
