QuickerTek now makes the speed improvement of 802.11n wireless available to 24-inch Intel iMac and Mac Mini users.
The user-installed version is available for $179 USD while the upgrade can be installed by QuickerTek for $199 plus shipping of the customer’s choice.
This 802.11n Upgrade is made to the same specifications as the Apple wireless networking card. This upgrade requires Mac OS X 10.4.8 or later and the supplied QuickerTek software. Although it comes with a second antenna to complete the MIMO functionality, it is easy to attach and use. QuickerTek’s 802.11n Upgrade works with all common WiFi equipment including 802.11b, g, and n.
The user-installed upgrade includes all of the parts, illustrated instructions and tools required to complete the upgrade. For the QuickerTek upgrade service, the customer selects the shipping method they prefer and the iMac is upgraded and return shipped to the customer using the same shipper and service speed.
Like most QuickerTek products, the 802.11n wireless upgrade for the 24-inch iMac is backed with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

Yes, the 24″ iMacs do have the 802.11n. You need to unlock it, however.
Maybe they meant 17″ iMac?
I think the very first iMac 24’s didn’t have the draft n card. Mine worked out of the box, but it’s hard-wired to the AE anyway.

BTW, has anyone been noticing Gary Coleman in the CashCall banner ads?
Oh, how the mighty have fallen…
apple provides a ‘upgrade’ card for the Mac Pro model that works perfectly in an iMac and its only $59… Will void your warranty though but still works great.
I have a 24″ iMac and let me say..ALL 24″ iMac have the ‘n’ card….except you do have to unlock it..(for cheap)
So, if it costs (something like 2 dollars) cheap to unlock the card, what is QT selling for $179?
Only the C2D’s have n, not the CD’s. I Think.
“Oh, how the mighty have fallen…”
Well, at least he didn’t have far to fall,
and it’s bound to beat that security guard gig he had.
So, if it costs (something like 2 dollars) cheap to unlock the card, what is QT selling for $179?
They’re selling you a wireless card that supports 802.11n, but the thing is, some (most?) of the newer macs already have this, you just have to “activate” it. Moral of the story: make sure you don’t already have a card that supports wireless n, before you go and spend $179…
Every Core 2 Duo (except the iMac 17″ 1,83 combo with integrated video card) have an Airport built in card capable of 802.11 A,B,G,N with A and N unlocked by the software included in the new AirPort Extreme (the New one with 4 ethernet port) or the cheap software downloadable by the Apple Store Online.
And every iMac 24″ are Core 2 Duo, so if you want to spend 179,00 $ to unlock it buy the AirPort Extreme, you’ll the base station for the same price.

@CandsTsmac:
There hasn’t been a 24″ iMac with Core Duo, only Core 2 Duo.
All 24″ iMacs have the ‘N’ card. Mine was one of the first out the door and the enbler worked perfectly with it. I don’t know what they are playing at.
