From the press release:
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group and Apple today announced that classic hit programming from Warner Bros.’ vast television library is now available for purchase and download on the iTunes Music Store. The new content features favorites such as the hugely popular sitcom “Friends,” sci-fi epic “Babylon 5” and some of the most popular sketches from “MADtv,” as well as animated classics including “The Jetsons” and “The Flintstones.” iTunes offers over 150 TV shows for $1.99 per episode for viewing on a computer or iPod.

Also available is the never-before-seen pilot episode of “Aquaman” — a grounded, contemporary reinterpretation of DC Comics’ Aquaman mythology from the acclaimed writing/producing team of Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”).

“Making our television content available to iTunes consumers is an important step in our digital distribution strategy,” said Simon Kenny, president, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “This deal fits perfectly with our philosophy of providing consumers with access to our world-class entertainment properties across the widest selection of platforms and devices available.”

“We’re thrilled to add hit programming from Warner Bros. as we continue to grow our video catalog with the best current and classic television programming,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes. “iTunes is the world’s most popular online video store with over 35 million videos sold.”

  1. Well it’s about time Warner Bros. got their head outta their @ss.

As many people might not know, the guy who owns the company is a idiot, bad mouthed Apple and wants variable prices on iTMS.

Steve Jobs must have done a good job smoothing over this prick, broffmann or something is his last name.

NOW GIVE ME MY LOST AND SOUTH PARK DAMMIT!!!

  2. This is good news for Apple, I guess, but I think I’ve seen all the episodes of B5 – many twice – and too much of the rest (and that just by surfing past them) so there isn’t much here for me.

Yeah … B5 changed the industry almost as much as Star Trek TOS did way-back-when. B5 brought “story arc” to episodic tv and proved that serious CG animation was possible on modest-budget tv – begone, models run on wires.

  3. Great News… just not for us UK people.
Are we ever gonna get any TV shows over here?

The problem with many TV shows here is, they sometimes do not get repeated (doesn’t count for lost, which is on about 5 times per episode).

So if the shows have a continuing plot and you miss an episode you can either:
    • Stop watching the series
    • Try to fill the plotholes and guess what’s happened
    • Wait for the DVD to come out – especially great if you only missed 2 – 3 episodes
    • Try to …erm… find a torrent file

I am sure there would be a massive audience in the UK that would buy the occasional episode.

    Bring it on!

  4. cool – I missed the whole B5 thing (old guy). I loved TOS, hated TNG with a white-hot hate, but really dug Farscape. Maybe I’ll give B5 a try. Everyone seems to have loved it. Gotta ♥ iTunes.

  5. Very interesting choices they made. Not fully sure I can understand why WB chose “these” shows. Is there a reason that “Smallville” say wasn’t added? And who made the decision to include The jetsons/flinstones. Not saying they aren’t good, but to me it seems like WB studios would have had bigger hits from a “downloading” audience. I mean, really, who is going to put Flinstones on their iPod?

BTW, FOX needs to upload Family Guy!

  6. what is it with Apple that makes them constantly deliver all this new stuff in the U.S only? Why is it so damn difficult to think about the money they can make in Asia and Europe with these services? Really, I just don’t get it.
