Apple has started running two-page print ads featuring their black and white MacBook models in major publications (we found the one we scanned below in Entertainment Weekly #882, June 16, 2006 issue):

I think the ad would have been more powerful if the black macbook had the white bg… and the white macbook had a black bg. It would be a great juxtaposition. But, that would only really work in magazines, not newspapers.

Apple sells more of the iBook/MacBook than it does of any other computer model.

With the Best Buy deal, back-to-school shopping and now aggressive advertising, it would appear that Apple is not concerned with delivery issues.

Q4 is going to be very strong. I would pay close attention to management’s guidance during the July earnings conference call.

Apple’s guidance is the trigger required to see AAPL start going up again.

Yeah, they’re nice, and I want one. I also want the article to mention the adware, spyware, virus-free unixy goodness of OS X.

Otherwise, John Q. Uninformed will simply compare these features to similar Dells and Sonys.

I just placed an order with Best Buy yesterday for the 2.0 GHz white MacBook. They are backordered, and my MacBook is expected to ship in 1-2 weeks. Best Buy awarded our classroom a $2,500 technology grant, however, so I don’t mind waiting.

We received the award in January, but I wanted to wait out the Intel upgrades before we bought a new Mac for more iLife in the classroom.

I know there are lots of people who visit MDN and don’t think much of Best Buy. After winning this award for the kids in my classroom, my opinion of Best Buy has definitely improved. The fact that they now sell more Macs doesn’t hurt either.

Just when Apple is getting serious about converting Windows users they pull this stupid stunt about charging extra just for the color black.

Apple should be trying to dispel people’s belief that Mac’s are artificially more expensive, not reinforcing it.

Secondly, makers of all kinds of products do this all the time from cars to computers – special editions get more dough.
Don’t like it, buy a white one.
Don’t like white, buy a MBP.

Played around with one at the Apple store in Reno. The keys are a little close together, (I’m used to desktops), but have a nice feel/response to them. The black one is already on my Christmas list.

Speaking of advertising, I see “Lucky Charms” (the cereal) is giving away free songs from iTunes songs as well as “Skittles” (the candy). Nice to see that again, I missed having Pepsi give away free songs earlier this year.

I had to read many reviews about the MacBook before being sold. Between the keyboard and the integrated graphics, I was reluctant.

My iBook G3 700′s keyboard, however, flexes when I type (I learned on manual typewriters), so a more solid keyboard is appealing.

The integrated GMA 950 graphics bothered me, too, especially considering that rev. B may include dedicated graphics (but, who knows). Again, after reading how the integrated graphics affects performance, I felt better. Apparently, only 3D gaming will truly suffer, and sense this computer will serve a classroom, that is a non-issue.

iMovie and iDVD performance appear to nearly match Intel equipped iMacs, and that’s what we need.

Sure, for the same money we could have gone for an iMac with dedicated graphics, but a recent attempt to break into our classroom made portability desirable. The MacBook will not be left at school overnight.

it’s good that Mac is having more advertising now. I wouldn’t have known about Macs if my friend couldn’t do 2349872349 more things than I could could with my dell…
