“Some of the side panels aren’t all that bad”
Aren’t all that bad? The current simple approach makes you just want to take it out of the box and hold it.
Is that it’s true.
I thought it was great. I showed it to my PC-using friend and he said “But Microsoft would never make an iPod.”
-_-
That was awesome.
Innovative packaging.
freaking brilliant. really well done.
so funny. so sad. so true.
Design usually suffers with big corporations. No negative space. Just fill it up fill it up fill it up!
Good thing there’s Apple
Huh? But the new packaging is WAAAY better! I mean now when I go to Bust Buy or Big-Box-Mart, I can see right away that this must be the best product on the shelves. After all, what other MP3 player has so much STUFF written all over its box. That means it’s the best, right? Right?
Moo (actually baa)

Just paste the “here” link into Safari’s Downloads window.
paste the link into safari’s DL window? there’s nowhere to paste in that window…
🙁 i pasted the link into the DLs window and it just DLed a file called “watch.html”. bummer
That characterizes the marketing and sales mentality to perfection!
funnies thing I have seen in a long time.
Funny…
But if they did it with Apple products – made fun of them-, Apple would sue the creator for copyright violation.
laughing my ass off.
This is so perfect. So perfect.
Yes, everyone agrees Apple has taste.
Gorgeous products, beautifully packaged. Sheer artwork.
Microsoft wouldn’t know good taste if it came and bit it’s monopolistic arse
Yet we all moan when Apple make ‘arty’ ads. Even MDN think they should make their ads more ‘Microsoft/PC’ like.
Psst… You can find it here:

Sshh!
Wow–hilarious!!
That was absolutely hilarious! Espcially liked the “expanded sys reqs” fold-out off the edge of the box… Actually, I’m surprised that made it through to “final” – I’m sure someone up the line would likely have suggested making just that side of the box bigger to accommodate the additional information.
But then again, if they did that they’d have had to start all over again with the other three sides, and who knows what else would need fixing, and then they’d probably just end up caught in, um, well, an infinite loop…

Very funny indeed.
As sad as some MS packaging is, Apple could stand to learn a thing or two about MS packaging as well.
You don’t have to over do it like MS does but it’d be nice if your Apple product packaging actually told you what you are buying. Or at least it’s supposed to do.
Funny none-the-less.
This Microsoft commercial has to bee seen to be believed:

2 FUN KNEE ! ! !
(meanwhile, back at the ranch, MS executives are puzzled as to why this is a parody)
Nail right on the head!
IF Microsoft made the packaging for the Apple iPod, it would be very simplistic. It would have 12 words on it. “This is not an I-pod, it is a waste of space. Buying this product will not make you look cool or get girls without paying for them. Go but the Iriver e10-33995 2006_FEB_I-PodKiller edition.” All 12 words in black ink on black background. Instant classic.
