   It’s weird that they went and used pictures of the older iPod on their website. You can tell because the screen is smaller than the current video-capable iPod.

   Anyway, it’s not a “bad” idea. But I’ll bet that if Apple were to do something like it, it’d have a better form factor.

   Hi Joe, I think it is because it alows older non-video iPods to play video like the new one does, so it makes sense to show the older model.

   As a device for easily archiving video, this could be really interesting. There are several movies that were on TV that I wanted to save. This would have been perfect. Whilst eyeTV can do something similar you have to have a PC connected. With this unit, it seems like you can record and then transfer to a PC later. I wonder what the resolution is.

   The idea for this is OK, though I don’t see it making it big especially at this price. What I don’t see is how it can make for satisfactory viewing when it only covers one eye. Anyone who has used a microscope or telescope knows it is hard to shift focus between a dominant eye whilst keeping attention on what is happening through the other eye. In my experience you have to devote concentration to one eye or the other, you can’t process information from both simultaneously. Plus, I wonder if the device can be used on either eye, because different people have a different dominant eye.

   Just checked out their website and did some checking up. I called all of their phone #’s, no answers, some disconnected calls, finally reached voicemail for two different locations. Not too sure, but it has the feel of a fly by night org to me.

    I think the significance of this thing is that firms continue to look for ways to piggy back the iPod phenomenon.

    What other portable muswic player has the bevy of 3rd party products the iPod does? Answer: absolutely none.

    What’s happening is the same thing that helped propel Windows. All that 3rd party software.

    I was hoping that something like this, incorporating that new H.264 real time encoding chip, would come along and allow you to use the iPod as an MSD (mass storage device) for video taping and playback! That could cut the cost of HD camcorders considerably if they didn’t have to store footage internally or have disc writing capabilities built in.

    Tim what are you talking about? The iSee is a sleeve with a 3.6 wide aspect LCD on it. There is no one eye screen. That was another product. I think you got your iPod accessories confused.

    This is not a great product at all. It seems it just uses the iPod as a hard drive which explains the use of older iPods. It doesn’t seem to record video in any format usable on an actual iPod Video once you remove it from the cradle. Big scam…

    So, basically you use your iPod as a glorified storage drive with a dock connector.

    The screen, GUI, software, etc has nothing to do with the iPod.
