Bill Gates named ‘World’s Most Admired CEO 2005’ -but he isn’t a CEO; Apple, Pixar CEO Steve Jobs #2

Microsoft’s Bill Gates has been named the world’s most admired chief executive – even though he isn’t a CEO! …Gates is no longer CEO of Microsoft. He is now that company’s chairman and chief software architect. The survey, conducted by Burson-Marsteller with the “Economist Intelligence Unit” (EIU) declares its award is for: “2005 World’s Most Admired Chief Executives.” It’s an inconsistent list. Microsoft’s actual CEO Steve Ballmer doesn’t make the cut. Also on the list is Michael Dell. Dell is no longer CEO of the company he founded,” Jonny Evans reports for Macworld UK.

“The true winner of that badge of honour should perhaps devolve to the second place name on the list, which is, of course, Apple CEO Steve Jobs,” Evans writes. “As if being CEO of one company isn’t enough, Jobs is also CEO of world-class animation studio, Pixar, with a chain of global box office successes under his belt.”

The survey is based upon 685 respondents that including CEOs, senior executives, financial analysts and government officials from 65 countries.

  1. These are the true victims of Y2K — apparently, their brains reset in 1999 and have been in a loop since then.

WHO THE HELL DOESN’T KNOW THAT GATES ISN’T THE CEO??!! He hasn’t officially run the company for years.

Yet another instance of a group of people in control that couldn’t wipe their asses if they didn’t have someone there to do it for them…

  2. Common. it is obvious that Ballmer is keeping the chair warm while Bill pursues other endeavour. With the added benefit of being able to chime in every now and then even if stepping on his lapdog.

I’d say that statement pretty much tells you everything you need to know. A more overpaid posse of mediocrity would be hard to assemble – no wonder Jobs stands out!

  4. can’t be bothered to read if anyone else has picked up on it but to “iDon’t” who writes…”Sort of like the guy that created Frankinstein.” well that would be Frankenstein’s dad, in the company of his mom. it was only later that said Frankenstein jnr created his Frankenstein’s monster… oh and to everyone who says “could of” it should be “could have” and to those who insist on “definate” the spelling is “definite” – feel better now.

  5. I was just being brief so that you would not have to think to hard. Also because I can’t spell monster. Some of you people would pick pepper out of fly poop. Sheesh!!! Geat a grip on yourself. Wait you are most likely to tiny to grip yourself without tweezers.

  6. –The 2005 CEO Capital™ study asked more than 600 global business influentials in 65 countries to write in which CEO or chairman they admire most in the business world today.

–The selection of Bill Gates as the 2005 world’s most admired leader … also acknowledges the powerful effect that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has had on Bill Gates’ reputation

Yeah; he’s not CEO, and if you measure him as CSA he’s a poor failure. What he does have is big wealth, and the problem of what to do with it. Giving some away makes good sense, which is what the other 600 “influentials” recognized. They imagine wistfully that they have his problem. What would I do with it … give some away? Maybe a little bit, eh?
