J.P. Morgan Securities raised its third-quarter earnings view on Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL) based on a “more optimistic” Mac shipments forecast and Tiger operating system sales.

“Analyst Bill Shope now sees third-quarter earnings at 32 cents a share from 30 cents expected earlier, and revenue at $3.34 billion, up from his previous view of $3.29 billion,” Reuters reports. “The analyst also raised the June quarter Mac shipment forecast to 1.14 million units from 1.12 million previously, and his software sales estimate to $310 million from $280 million earlier.”

Shope maintained his iPod sales forecast at 5.55 million units for the quarter and retained his “overweight” rating on Apple shares.
