MacDailyNews Take: And you thought that Tetris addiction was behind you, huh?

  1. Tetris is owned by somebody and Apple would have to pay them and put a TM symbol or something on the name. Like somebody posted, just put a picture of Tetris on your ipod, snap a picture, and send it to the rumor sites.

If there was a TM or an R or something I could believe it.

It would be pretty fun to have if it was true and it comes to the black-and-white screen ipods too.

  2. because they don’t run the HD, only the screen, and iPods have plenty of battery these days.

PSP owners need be jealous of only one thing: that we can play tetris on the little machine we already carry, and not have to lug that big brick ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

And Tom, what do puzzle games have to do with sexual orientation? Or are you using gay as an insult?

  3. Hmmm, a photo like that would be pretty easy to fake though. You can also install Linux on you iPod I have heard – could someone have possibly ported a linux version of tetris to the iPod?

This still would not be enough for me to have to buy a new iPod – my 3rd Gen unit is still running fine. Now if they came out with one that could be natively used to run video off your TV or viewing goggles…..

  4. “Let me know when you find a pair of jeans with PSP-compatible pockets.”

    They’re called cargo pants ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”wink” style=”border:0;” />

  5. Tetris! Ha! We’re slowly devolving back into the good old days of Nintendo liqid crystal hand held games like Donkey Kong. Still, 60gigs of music is a nice touch.

  6. Rather than adding the ability to play ONE new game, maybe Apple will offer the opportunity to download several/many games to play, including Tetris. To offer just one new game does seem pretty lame.

  7. Jeans with PSP compatible pockets

shit!!! congrats on picking up on the.. ahem.. underlying message.. the iPod fits in your hand, it fits in your pocket, it’s SMALL. Talking about the jack-of-all trades.. no storage PSP as a competitor is just ridiculous.. wanna talk battery life? didn’t think so..

sheesh.. yes.. it plays 1.8GB games.. we get it.. it’s made by Sony who knows nothing about software.. yippee.. Sony is not gonna kill the ipod with PSP. Not this quarter.. Not two years from now. Get it?

  8. First: Tetris is probably not owned by anyone (anymore), there are dozens of Tetris variants for OS X,, and not a single one has a copyright or trademark sign…
Second: Linux for iPod is only in black and white.
I’m not saying that the screenshots aren’t fake, but these two reasons are not a sign for a fake.

  9. TM is a reason for it to be a fake: shareware guys may ignore the law, but Apple won’t. And even if they could get away with cloning the concept, the Tetris name is another thing.

But these have been proven fakes in other ways anyway, by comparing with a real iPod’s screens.

AP — what “big announcements” did anyone promise?

  10. What a boring announcement this would be. I honestly do not know how anyone could stand to view photos, (or play games for that matter), on a screen not much larger than my cellphone. I guess the transitions would be nice to have. I suspect though they will announce more than this for an update.
When will the next generation come out with a larger screen, and video features I wonder.
I am sure it will be an incredible offering when it comes out, and I will likely buy one with the rest of the masses – I love Apple.
For now though, I will stick with my Archos AV420 and my Mini

  11. You must mean screen not much larger than the cameras people are always showing photos on.

And you do realize that the iPod outputs to TV?

  12. Yes, I do realize that the iPod Photo has video output, which is great, but more people are likely using them to show friends photos when out etc.
All I’m saying is that it is a very small screen, and a larger screen size, and video support would really be great development of this device. THAT would be an exciting announcement.
