Installed the 10.4.1 update and now the dock does not magnify or if you select the ‘hide dock’ option in ‘dock preferences’ it hides the dock ok BUT when you mouse over the bottom of the screen the dock does not appear at all.

Have emailed Apple with this info.

I agree with you, had no problem and one day gone, does not pop up, its something to do with those stupid widgets….. Can anyone help?

PS Tiger is a dog of osx, wish i never switched from Panther. My brand new power book is sluggish specially when you open several applications….. God help us!

Don’t miss out on the best OSX feature of all. Fire up the “terminal” application and you’ll find you instantly have your own unix terminal with a command line, and that you can use just about every unix command line application and instruction known to man.

I do agree with you about the all of the GUI inconsistencies (Mail is my pet peave).

That said I’ll be downloading it soon. I just wish Apple would really get it together … my pet gripes … HUI/GUI inconsistencies and applications that get a make over that actually makes them less elegant and more clunky to use – Quicktime Pro I’m looking at you.

If anyone else is having Quicktime plugin in Safari issues (Spinning Beach Ball of Death on any movie link) – under both 10.3.9 and 10.4 – can you post as to whether 10.4.1 fixes them.

I must say that Tiger made me a switcher – I’ve got a Tablet PC and Windows Media Center in the house as well and I love that I can control the Media Center with Remote Desktop – now if Apple makes something I can use to record my HD TV stations(I have 3 tuners in the Media Center, 1 is Hi-Def), I would by an HD Airport Express and a Mac Mini and replace that Media Center in 2 seconds after having OS X as my main OS for a week. The features that Apple already has in the OS vs. XP are amazing and after seeing a Longhorn briefing yesterday, I think OS X is equal to or a step ahead there as well.

Kudos to this site and the Mac people out there, I’ve found everyone to be very helpful so far.

And, at least in this case, the ‘Halo Effect’ is VERY real – I bought an iPod when they came out(2001 battery still holding charge) and finally decided that I might try the Mac too. Glad I did!

It is really a token effort as the user can still easily install a malicious widget without knowing it.

This needs to come with a supplementary warning: Only download widgets from sites that guarantee widgets have been pre-tested by the distribution site.

Seems a bit snappier, and I’m glad nothing has stopped working (I haven’t been able to print from iPhoto since installing Tiger).

Pages rocks, I’ve just typed my Resumé with it, such an easy learning curve compared to Word. Hopefully I can delete Word pretty soon and be 100% Micro$oft free before they start making you subscribe to use it (hehe).

Wonder why this one didn’t make the cut to 10.4.1.

I used the 37MB download to update. Took 45 seconds to install, and 2 minutes for 1st boot. It also launched Setup Assistant and played the Tiger intro movie. Didn’t expect to see that again.

Also, still can’t use Suntrust bank’s “transfer funds” feature, although this I’m sure is an issue with Suntrust’s web page coding (Would you believe this BANK uses WINDOWS in its online banking system servers???)

In both cases there is no comparison.

macnut222- yes, the Power Mac G5 intro movie.

Its wishful thinking, i know, but this guys hints, the machinery they show in the factory, the rumors circulating that have been circulating, and the chip used in that new X-Box (hopefully it performs better than it looks), it hints to some sort of multi core PowerPC to be used in the next Power Mac…. however, I doubt it will be the “G6″ nor an upgraded “G5″
