“One detailed tipster claims that new PowerMacs will be announced at the upcoming National Association of Broadcasters conference which takes place between April 16-21 in Las Vegas, NV,” arn reports for MacRumors.com. “The new machines will include the rumored 970MP starting at 2GHz, alongside 2.5GHz and 3.0GHz models… Memory support will be boosted to 32GB of RAM in the high end models with availability of 4GB DDR modules.”
arn reports, “While G5 PowerBooks are not expected, a higher resolution ‘PowerBook HD’ is expected to be debuted at NAB as well. The new model is expected to simply boost the resolution of the current 17″ PowerBook.”

“New 3GHz PowerMac G5s and PowerBook HD coming at NAB in mid-April”
Don’t bet on it. Maybe by June, but not at NAB.
Why not an “iMac HD” as well?
Since it’s the “year of HD”, why not move the iMacs up to HD as well? At least the 20″ model.
in the dual 2ghz you can have 16gbs actually with 2gb cards because the u3 memmory controller supports it.
Why not add 8 more slots and save tons of money? And what about PCIe with SLI?
if you add more slots you can save tons of money
8x 4gb cards = $24,000
16x 2gb cards = $6,912 on newegg
you could save tons
The only thing that would switch me from the path to get a Powermac G5 would be a dual-core G4 or G5 Powerbook.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
About friggin’ time…
Think about a Dual Dual-core PMG5 with 32gbs ram and 2 Nvidia 6800 Ultras with PCIe and SLI. HyperTransport 2.0 SWEEEEETTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would sorta make sense to announce these machines at a smaller venue than WWDC, particularly as this represents a somewhat embarassing acheivement (3.0GHz a year later than initially announced).
And it sounds like the Powerbook HD will be little more than a screen upgrade (and I’m not sure how much value a HD screen would have on a laptop).
Most of the rumors imply that the focus of WWDC will be Tiger, rather than any new hardware.
