Apple’s iPod shuffle now available in select 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan

“The nation’s iPod fans now have an easier way to bring home an iPod Shuffle, as Apple’s Taiwan branch has teamed up with the 7-Eleven convenience store giant to market the red-hot gadget, which was officially launched yesterday,” Amber Chung reports for The Taipei Times. “‘We had hundreds of inquiry calls yesterday alone, as soon as we started selling the product in our outlets,’ said Vivian Hsu, public relations specialist with President Chain Store Corp, that runs over 3,700 7-Eleven stores across the nation.”

“The retailer expects the first batch of 500 units of the iPod Shuffle, the new model of Apple Computer Inc’s best-selling iPod music player family, allocated for sale in 250 outlets in the nation’s metropolitan areas to be sold out in two or three days, she said. This is the second promotional partnership between the information technology and retail giants after the two parties received enthusiastic feedback from consumers during a promotion of the iPod Mini last August,” Chung reports. “The retailer said it would seek to continue the sale but were uncertain about the quantity available for the next wave, given a shortage of supplies of the popular consumer electronics gadget after it hit the market.”

MacDailyNews Take: 500 units for 250 stores? We’ll go out on a limb and predict that demand will probably outweigh supply in Taiwan’s 7-Eleven stores for the initial batch at least.

  1. If you don’t stop those pop-op add I will stop comming
    here.
I have camino and they pop-up every time I load the site.

I’m not against advertising, but those pop up are a real shit.

  2. They had shuffles in the Apple store in Ginza today. The store was really crowded and sales seemed brisk, especially considering it was a weekday.

But a wierd thing is that there are NO iSights in Japan right now. The shipping wait from the Apple Online store is 4-6 weeks!!! I even went to a couple of stores in Akihabara after the Apple store and they are not to be found anywhere. Whats up with that???

My father in law is getting a 12 inch ibook as a present from everybody and I know he will want to do vid chat with the grandkids. I guess we will have to loan him one of our iSights and use the DV Camera instead until the new one can arrive.

Oh, and no, I didn’t get a shuffle even tho I really wanted to. I used up too many new toy points organizing the present for the Dad in law and in addition I am on line to get a new computer for myself soon. Soooo the wifal unit put the nix on a shuffle. She is kinda right anyway, with two iPods already in the house we don’t REALLY need it. So I will have to wait for my new toy points cache to replenish before a shuffle can be purchased but mark my words at some point ONE WILL BE MINE.

  3. Heh, it’s already been done here in Singapore. 7-Eleven stores (selected ones) have carried the new iPod Shuffle and even some iPod/iPod minis in them. Demand (needless to say) has been great!

  4. Let me get this straight…

    There’s 7-11, then there’s 0…followed by 911 and 411.

    So, what’s the 411 on 7-11 in 0? Better call 911
before it’s too late, Oh I’m not worried at all.
